If they have no access to the diplomat they're most likely brainwashing them into pleading guilty at the upcoming trial.

So what are we of the free world doing about scum like Chongryon, Nodutdol, and Alejandro Cao de Benos and his so-called Korean Friendship Association?

"The detention of the two Americans comes at a time of mounting tensions between Pyongyang and Washington, and there are concerns the North could use the women as bargaining chips as it seeks to position itself for talks with the Obama administration about its weapons programs."

I would have thought this was a given, but hey.

roxana saberi' was caught spying and went to trial, so lets wait. Not sure about these two. Maybe they were just making a tv doc and decided to break the law. What would happen if a Taliban sneaked into the US illegally, and started filming government installations etc?

Absolutley these Americans will be used as pawns for the NK cause. Fact is they are already considered guilty and convicted in the minds of the NK courts, even though the "mock" trial will start next month. What a joke. Time to shut NK off from the world. Forever.

I am sure we have the intel. Send in the military with special forces to rescue the "accused". Lil KIm don't like it, well don't ever dare to mess with the US.

However i do not think Obama has the guts to approve such a raid. McCain would have dealt woth this correctly, and in a manner i would approve of.

This is a real slap in he face from NKorea and unfortunately I have to agree that the current administration doesn't have what it takes to deal with countries like this.

Can you imagine if 2 Chinese guys sneaked into your room illegally, and started trying to kill you etc?

I am more inclined to believe that the two were either set up or snatched from China. After all, the dear little pipsqueak does have a proclivity for kidnapping. He probably needs new love slaves.

It's a pity the two are caught up in this because Obama will, rightly, continue to ignore the Ill regime. And I'm sure NK will continue to try to find ways to pitch ever more shrill tantrums.

When are the Chinese going to spank their brat?

OssanAmerica: "This is a real slap in he face from NKorea and unfortunately I have to agree that the current administration doesn't have what it takes to deal with countries like this."

Do tell us what 'what it takes' requires. Do you mean (Top Gun theme song in the background) going in and nuking the place, like other complete nuts think is 'what it takes' to DEAL with NKorea? How is what's happening now any less 'what it takes' than with previous US administrations. I seem to recall that the last president, who accelerated the strain in relations with NKorea, later kow-towed to NK and took them off the black list, despite promising US allies they would not.

As you have said in the past, and I agree, the pressure has got to be ON China and in turn come FROM China to push NKorea into being less confrontational. The US, not Obama, is not in any kind of position to be dictating to China what they should or shouldn't be doing in this matter. It was GWB at the end of his reign that was travelling to China to beg them to buy US bonds because of the economic crisis he helped create... The current US admin. has no choice but to bow to the Chinese if it wants to survive (economically speaking), and that has nothing to do with who is president at present. So, taking a hard stance is not something the US can do (towards China). Towards NK itself, nothing significant in stance has changed at the WH at all, one way or the other.
