I guess he hasn't figured out that his son and sister are trying to kill him. Oh well, any day now, he will wise up, or not.
Quite a bit of intrigue going on here. Russian educated this, and Chinese leaning that. Tempers and favors, struggles and perquisites.
I think there is going to be quite a bit of disruption at succession. Look how long KJil is waiting. And now a military appointment for his kid... how many "generals in waiting" were passed over to install this kid? I guess we will find out when the heads start rolling.
Cauesescu thought he had things nailed down in Romania, but things fell apart very quickly.

LOL, Hahaha!! Man this reality show gets better each time it airs. The Kim show, staring Kim, his son Kim and Kim’s sister…. Um... Kim.

It's their family name... wouldn't it be stranger if they were different?

I wonder if the guy really exists. The only picture of him was taken when he was a teenager. I'd like to see evidence that he exists. I know that the eldest son was disqualified because he tried to get into Japan on a fake passport to take his kids to Disneyland. The middle sone is to "feminine" or "un-manly". Is that North Korean for "gay"? Well, he is pretty cute.

Seriously, has anyone considered how this "passing the torch" thing is going to work? Kim Jong Il has to die, doesn't he? Can you imagine him going from SUPREME BEING one day to being former tyrant the next? I can't.
And if he dies, then all bets are off right? Who knows who has whose loyalty. Everyone gets what they can grab, and sis looks like she has been waiting a long time for this. And the kids are likely to be, well, feeble, general or not... so.... look for NKorea to become a puppet state of... well China, of course, right? Or will Russia be able to sweet talk sis in its own language?
Democracy is so easy in a lot of ways.

Klein nothing about NK worries me but that veteran TV anchor! She does have the power and she expresses it through her songs!

Do we call him 'lil Kim?

Only in N.Korea can you be under 30, never have served in the military and be promoted to general!

Ah! Now it is all beginning to fall into place. Kim needed the international community to take the heat off North Korea so he could quietly pass the baton to his third son. The torpedo and SK navy ship sinking repercussions were not going to go away. So he took his train to China and met with the leadership. "I pledge undying loyalty to China through my offspring if you will just do something to get everyone to turn their eyes away for a minute." So China sends a fishing boat to ram some Japanese patrol boats! Everyone, eyes left! Perfect.

@superlib, i will certainly start calling him 'lil Kim. That's a good one.

Look at the bright side. With such talent in the military leadership any move against SK would be doomed to failure. Rather like that other military genius, Adolf. Who also showed some odd proclivities toward relatives.....

Yes, no experience, etc., but promoted to general.
This is "affirmative action" North Korea style, i.e., it applies to the descendants of Kim.

Ah, but lil Kim has no experience, Adolf at least fought in WW1, and made Corporal. Heh, don't know which would be worse. Knowing nothing, or thinking you know what you're doing, and being incompetent.
