"anti-U.S. protests"

Q. Which has caused more misery in Afghanistan, the U.S. or the Taliban? A. The Taliban, by far.

Where are the anti-Taliban protests?

I am against violence and terror, but if we analyze the reasons for the deadly attacks without bias, we will come to the natural conclusion that these attacks were provoked by the stupid and irresponsible activity of some members of the American military, who did not respect the religion and customs of people of Afghanistan. I am really sorry for the loss of life and this tragedy but I have to say that people must act with wisdom and maturity in such a risky, volatile and dangerous environment. I feel that American soldiers do not have a sense for self preservation, was there any special reason for additional provocation and angering the Afghani people?I read somewhere that American army wanted to win over the hearts of the people. How are you going to win the hearts of people when you burn their sacred book? Please show respect to their religion even if it is not yours and you do not approve it. American army should stop behaving like supreme justice judging the beliefs of people, show understand and sympathy and maybe you will get better results.

Yep, that's unbiased.

How is it that US troops are burning 'the Koran' in a Muslim country? Is this US military policy? Is this meant to 'enflame' (pun) the Afghan population to increase attacks on foreigners (military) in Afghanistan? Maybe, it is some pathetic moronic behavior by some bored individuals?

Whatever it is, it is a poor reflection on the US!

Yep, that's unbiased.

I would like to see more "unbiased opinions"? How would you classify the act of burning the Koran in Afghanistan? Is it an act of bravery? Or is it an act of stupidity or lack of moral and ethics? Especially when you have never been welcome there in the first place...

Show also respect to your enemy. You and your enemy are on both sides of the same conflict, you both have parents and relatives, you both experience hardships and danger. The difference is that your both were born in different countries with different beliefs and politics. But you have more in common than you think. Peeing on the body of a fallen man is unmanly.

The Afghans have had 10 years to figure out whether they want freedom from the Taliban and strict rules or to go back to the way it was with them.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It seems they are choosing the strict rules and I say let them have at it.

However, they should be told that if they choose to attack outside that they should expect to be put in their places decisively.

Then all forces should leave them to their own devices. Enough is enough. When people start idolizing a book over human life, it is time to get out.

They're un-educated cave people. I agree with Ben, they should be left to get on with it and use drones to zap any terror bots setting up camp n the future. It will save lives on both sides and a gargantuan pot of NATO cash. The mission is a failure.

It was stupidity. The Taliban prisoners were using the Koran books lent to them off the prison library to write secret notes to each other, thus desecrating their own books. When the guards found out, the books were thus designated for disposal (there's no reason to keep them). But instead of burying them, some of the books were burned. The books would be disposed of regardless, one way or another, since they were already tainted for nefarious reasons.

Peeing on the body of a fallen man is unmanly.

And shooting ISAF officers while they're working in the office is unmanly. And denying girls the right for an education is unmanly. And hiding amongst civilians in civilian clothes during a battle is unmanly.

My 6 months is almost up, mentoring ANP. It's a lost cause, stone age mentality, tribalism and hocus poccus. The population are generations away from anything remotely like civil discourse. Would love to be of use and help improve the situation but the place is a patch work of un educated vindictive two faced corrupt individuals unable to see past their own compound walls. Leave them too it.

Before you say how underdeveloped and uncivilized is Afghanistan due to the talibans, please research who helped them to come to power, who supplied them with weapons and supported them and used them against Russia and with this created their own political trap? Aren't the talibans in a sense the product of the USA because they were so very useful in the struggle for power against Russia? Russia and the USA are two imperial powers who did not succeed in Afghanistan...The USA unfortunately did not learn from the lessons of history when Russia failed in Afghanistan...

look at the pictures of angry afghani men posted with this article. They do not look happy with the so called US or NATO help...

They're never happy. History of Afghanistan says that if they're not fighting somebody else, they're fighting amongst themselves.
