The key here, before any jumps on climate change in general, is that this happened over time due to NATURAL CLIMATE change! That said, the current changes caused by human beings is something that could do a lot worse over much shorter periods of time, and the proof of natural changes is something we can use to debate how we should proceed in the future and things to look for.

The headline is a spanner in the works of this debate. Seriously, no thanks. Very misleading.

This may not scare us in high and dry parts of our planet, but not only is it very sad and shameful to know that our precious corral reefs are being destroyed, not only by nature but also by our collective greed, anger and stupidity, but for the good people on the tiny island nations of Vanuatu, etc..they are quickly losing their lovely islands to the sea! Some of the people are worried about the corral reefs, me too but, now where are these islanders to go??

There has also been plenty of cases of changes among the reef-dwelling species, coral bleaching, and species relocation. Diving in Okinawa you can see the changes, and I've seen some species while diving in Izu that are more usually found further south.
But, a couple major volcanic eruptions could very well reverse the trend, as has occurred before.
