Nepalese police detain 572 protesting Tibetans

KATHMANDU —

Nepalese police broke up anti-China protests by Tibetans in three separate place in Kathmandu on Sunday afternoon and detained 572 protesters, police said.

An official at central police headquarters in the capital said 548 Tibetan women and 24 men have been detained, the largest number of detainees in a single day since the Tibetan community here started protesting in March against Chinese suppression in Tibet.
