Iran is a party to non-proliferation agreements. Iran has IAEA inspectors at their facilities. Despite the hysterics of Netantahu there is not a shred of evidence that Iran intends to develop atomic bombs. Israel on the other hand is armed to the teeth with nukes, is not party to non-proliferation pacts and is threatening an unprovoked attack on a soveriegn nation (although it would prefer America to do it for them). Netenyahu is the nut case in this dispute. Obama is correct in taking the cautious and wise approach that he has to date. I suspect that the US probably has sound intelligence that Iran is not close to or intending to produce nuclear weapons. And really, should the US again risk being involved in a war for non-existent weapons of mass destruction?

His explanation was very clear and convincing. I have learned a lot from him.

We need to do something more against Iran within a year.

I agree with the no more war part. War is such a waste of life and resources. Another useless bloody war in the Middle east or persia would be horrible. But one nuclear bomb blowing up in Israel would poison everyone around them, the mediteranian, europe. Iran said they would do it. They are working on the bomb dilligently (They tell the IAEA toothless dog that they are building peaceful reactors) The americans (aka world police) are exhausted. The experienced soldiers are getting burned out from tour of duty after tour of duty, the green ones are not getting screened properly. This is a horrible situation. I would hate to be an israeli and listen to peope tell me that the only way they will get help is if Iran decides to drop the bomb; then they will actually do something. What would you want if it was targeted at you? I know that the so called Dear Leader wanted to singe Japan off of the map. Would it be fair for Japan to ask for help? Should they wait? What about China? What if they invaded Japan. Would it be fair to call for help? I think that peoples ears are so horribly tinged by the arab/persian propaganda machine we cant tell the difference betwen the truth and the rediculous BS (a.k.a Iran / Palestine's speech at the UN). Does Israel have problems, sure. Every developed nation does. How can you resolve them when you are dealing with insanity.

Israel has enough nuclear bombs to take care of Iran without America getting involved in another war! We can have over 2,000 but no one can even attempt to build one. BTW how many Israeli's were there helping in Iraq and Afghanistan? No War!

xrc:

" Israel has enough nuclear bombs to take care of Iran "

Firstly, you don´t know that. And secondly, unlike Iran, Israel has never threatened to wipe out another country and will not do so. Israel`s nuclear weapons are purely meant for defense.... alas, if even one nuclear bomb hit Israel, there would be nothing left to defend any more.

Dozens of "red lines" have been drawn, and subsequently crossed by Iran without anything happening.

The current administration is not going to do anything to stop Iran; all they are interested is getting re-elected.

And by the time the next administration takes over, it will be too late, regardless of who wins the US election.

Get ready for Iran´s mullahs armed with a nuclear bomb.

SimondB - Does the following BBC report qualify as a "shred of evidence"?

The IAEA has long expressed concern about Iran's nuclear programme, but its latest report (November 2011) lays out the case in much greater detail than before.

Drawing on evidence provided by more than 10 member states as well as its own information, the IAEA said Iran had carried out activities "relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device".

It said that some of these activities could only be used to develop nuclear weapons - though it did not say that Iran had mastered the process, nor how long it would take Iran to make a bomb.

The report documents alleged Iranian testing of explosives, experiments on detonating a nuclear weapon, and work on weaponisation - the processes by which a device might be adapted and hardened to fit into the nose-section of a missile.

In other words, your post is completely incorrect.

"A man has to do what a man has to do." Go ahead, Israel, but it is your decision. One day any country will tell the USA not to be involved in it's decision making process. The next day, this one, it want the USA to be the wing man. The USA can't do both. Japan and Israel receive thousands of $$$ per year from the USA. Do whatever YOUR people to do. Congress is not your decision making group

Indirectly, Netanyahu spoke about Obama's unwilling to draw the red line regarding Iran's uranium enrichment program. Even most liberal news citing same issue before the speech. Ahmadinejad talked about new world order under Shiite's apocalyptic vision of future justice! even-thou there is no present justice in Iran? Whatever their faith dictated, how irrational or illogical may be; that is their justice(e.g. jihad). The question is when Israel will take action unilateral if Obama continues tough talk without drawing the red line, or cornered Obama to join in the attack in near future? The world are a messy place, and history has shown that riding the storm thus expecting the clear day might not work all the time. War is a terrible thing and casualties are painful, but fanatic terrorist must be confronted.

I know it sounds bad but, better to be SAFE than SORRY, right?? So if Iran is trying to make its own nuclear bombs???? My guess in public, Mr.Obama will act as if he is not in favor of Israel going after Iran, but some how my gut feeling is that everybody, not just the Israelis, the Americans but even the Russians and Chinese are all on the same page.

Ahmadinejad's term is ending within a year so he's already semi-retired anyways, he just dishing out a few farewell speeches and speaking his mind.

If Iran ever does develop a deployable nuke Ahmadinejad will be long retired anyways. So there's no point in linking his speeches to Iran having nukes.

Iran already has WMDs, in terms of vast and powerful stockpiles of Chemical and Bio weapons and Iran already has enough fissible material to make a deadly so-called dirty bomb. Yet Iran has not used any of these nor has Iran supplied these to any other party ie Hezbollah.

So let's not get carried away and start another war just because somebody drew a ridiculous picture of a Roadrunner Acme bomb and made a speech about it at the UN.

Does anybody remember the WMD speech Colin Powell made. This is just part deux. Just more lies to start another war.

NeverSubmit - I'm curious. Who wants to start a war, and why?

Bibi can say whatever he likes. 'Cause the last time I checked, this President calls his own shots.

NeverSubmit is correct.

Dirty bombs, chemical and biological weapons deliverable by various systems...

Armed conflict between Iran and Israel would likely be catastrophic beyond anyone's imagination. The Middle East as we know if would cease to exist for the foreseeable future.

And that would be devastating to the world economy, as we are dependent on oil from the region.

Wasn't that the primary reasons that Bush and the neocons have done everything possible to involve the USA in wars there.

Seems like you are right. More lies and hate speech! He should never threaten another country. Ahmadinejad needs to stop ranting, because HIS big mouth could start up a war. Don't yell fire in a crowed rule.

Yep. People used to call that being unilateral, a cowboy, an ideologue who won't listen...
