Let’s get some details in place taken solely from this none news story.
“in east Jerusalem—the section of the holy city claimed by the Palestinians.”
It is also claimed by Israel and occupied by Israel (nine tenths of the law).
“Israel captured east Jerusalem from Jordan in 1967”
I don’t hear Jordan making any noise about this.
“The Palestinian officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were discussing a sensitive diplomatic matter.”
In other words Palestinians making up any story they want because when have they ever worried about “sensitive diplomatic matters”?
“On Sunday, Israel said it was imposing a closure on the West Bank as a security measure for the duration of the weeklong Passover holiday. The routine measure, which was to begin at midnight, bars almost all Palestinians from entering Israel.”
This happens every year which is why it is called a “routine measure”. So adding it on to the end of this nothing to say story is bait to the gullible.

We can very easily stop all foreign aid. We can quit pandering this relationship with Israel that benefits no one but Israel. We can tell Israel to buy their weapons somewhere else.
And the next time that they are in a war with someone, we should not try to rush the production so Israel has more weapons then Palestinians. < :-)

An unshakable bond means that Israel can do ANYTHING it wants, it has even gotten away with attacking the US militarily (USS Liberty).
Allies and friends do not have an unshakable bond. Israel is neither an ally nor a friend of the American people, it is a parasite.

Grafton,
East Jerusalem is not just something the Palestinians want or claim.
East Jerusalem (as well as Gaza and all of the West Bank) belongs to the Palestinians according to international law. The UN, the International Court of Justice, and the entire world agree with that. The Israelis have no more right to occupy East Jerusalem than they have to occupy New Zealand.

and the US. Israel is the US' most loyal ally. Obama would be stupid to sell them out for the false hope of acceptance by the Islamofascists.

How about developing new forms of energy that allow us to leave the Middle East altogether? If it weren't for the oil, we wouldn't give a hoot either way.

What do expect from a muslim-infatuated government? I said from the beginning that an Obama admin would be disaster for Israel, and now we are seeing it. I just hope Israel can survive the next three years, when this nightmare is over.

East Jerusalem and West Bank were Jordanian and the Gaza was Egyptian.
The twin British mandates covered all of what is now Israel and also Jordan so where does this nation of Palestinians come from? Are they perhaps the rejects from other Arab countries who simply don’t want them?
Strange that neither Jordan nor Egypt are making demands to have land returned, but then neither Jordan nor Egypt wanted the Palestinians either. It says a lot about Arab unity doesn’t it?

327 members of the US Congress recently petitioned our wayward president to reverse his course on US Israel relations and treat this ally, one of our most important, with the respect they deserve.
