Interesting that only Egypt ordered pigs slaughtered...with chicken flu they were immediately culled by the 1000s and same with foot and mouth disease in cattle and Mad cow disease....

This is so scary. I livde in England , and the cases rise daily! My partner has severe asthma and i'm so scared the poor dear will catch this.
Even a cold can cause a terrible time. When i think about it, it makes me cry, i'm sure there must be thousands of people like me in Britain scared for a loved one.

The Pigs need to be protected from the swine-flu breeding humans. Where is the ACLU and Peta on this? Liberals come out and protect the innocent pigs!

ChrisBiggins,
I wish you and your partner nothing but the best. I cannot comment on how things are in England, but, I was at a press conference no more than 30 minutes prior to this post and the doctor at the conference was urging that people do not panic. The H1N1 flu virus is not as severe as originally believed. The recommendation the doctor gave to the TV reporters was for people to eat healthy, get plenty of sleep, stay hydrated and to wash your hands frequently. If you can, keep some hand sanitizer with you, so you may wash your hands when you are out and about. If washing with warm soapy water, you should wash your hands a little longer than with the sanitizer (a nurse told me last week that the "Happy Birthday" song is a good gauge for how long you should wash your hands).

This will be milder than other flus we see, I think ( my MD papers are in the mail). If the media wasn't posting what the gov't was saying, then people would be getting upset that the country isn't doing enough.
Then my wife is saying that it's being hyped.
I see both sides. < :-)

I do too.
I think "the hype" is more online than anywhere else however. There are a lot of folks Twittering a lot of nonsense that is fueling the fire.
The medical community has been pretty consistent.
But, for anyone looking for more info, I highly recommend the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's website (www.cdc.gov/).

I just hope and pray that this virus is kept under control. I am Mexican, and am ashamed that other Mexicans are not being more careful, President Calderon is asking all Mexicans to stay at home now until May 6the (to prevent any more people from passing this virus) what the hell were these other Mexicans travelling to Hong Kong and mainland China thinking??? I do not blame the Chinese for taking such precautions and maybe the WHO must take stronger measures to warn people from non essential travel.
