So long as everyone is qualified (regardless of gender), good on them.

The gender thing is mentioned in the first sentence, and then promptly ignored for the rest of the long article.

That is about right for the US. Seems as it should be. Pretty AP news.

If this were a Kyodo article, we would get bios on each of the women. If it were typical J press we would know the color of their lipstick, marriage status, etc.

I wonder how other people view this story. If I could think of things that I care about in a SCOTUS justice, I think gender might be pretty far down the list. Or will it matter with women's issues? I wonder. Funny how religion makes a difference. And no Protestants? What is up with that? Seems weird, but considering what Protestantism has become, maybe that is a good thing.

    Where are the atheists?

    Where are the atheists?

Kagan and Sotomayer were appointed by one. I suspect that as with Obama their declared religion is like the flag pin on the lapel - - it's just a prop, something that they believed would help with the 'long march' through the institutions and what not.

The justices also refused to let a sexual harassment trial go forward against a former United Nations official. Federal courts have said that the U.N. is absolutely immune from such a lawsuit, and its former employees also have immunity.

007 agents have a license to kill. U.N. officials have a license to grope.
