Its always bizarre to realize how many official "non-events" inspire action to make sure it does not happen "again".
But in this case I thinks obvious DSK attacked the maid and the way the courts work is whacked.

I know it's your opinion, but that's not obvious at all. Both subjects had less than pristine records. They both lacked credibility, so given that, it was probably the logical outcome.

So did the boy who cried wolf. But it was still evident there was a wolf.
Basically, jailing or not jailing someone on account of taking someone's word over another, due to their history of unrelated things, is a little nutty.
But here is the kicker. We don't have DSK's full story. He never gave us one. He was never required, and so, he never bothered, short of the diplomatic immunity lie no innocent man would tell upon arrest at the airport. But it hardly matters. There is no way DSK could possibly explain away what happened. If he could, he would have anyway. Its really not that hard to suss out, not unless we, like the courts, are so dumb as to base everything on cred.

How many languages needed to ensure the entire transient population of maids in New York hotels understand a guest's failure to tip does not count as a crime which can be prosecuted in one of those spiffy courtrooms they show on the television?

Bah they're both guilty. Money-grubber VS dirty rich old porc.
And besides guys, a "DSK" button wouldn't have helped the maid as by her own testimony she didn't report it immediately and went off to clean other suites.
They should both be tried for wasting police time and, well at least in Strauss Kahn's case, giving pots of money to the vultures known as lawyers.
Apparently the film is already in the offing. Derpadieu as the dirty old pervert and Adjani as his missus. Who is ugly enough in Hollywood to play the money-grubber is my only question?
