Bravo! Finally, somebody talking sense!

Some people don't understand the difference between dialogue and rhetoric though.

Plus I predict that both the extremes on this issue will accuse the other of being guilty but no themselves. Both sides are guilty! But you have to go back where this all started. And that point was police not only brutally, stupidly and carelessly killing an unarmed man, but getting away with it scot free. From there those enamored with authority begin with deflection, and right back down the rabbit hole we will go.

This is mostly about the NYPD union negotiating their new contract. The police are symbolically turning up their nose at what the city wants to offer them.

We need first of all for the police to stop harassing and killing innocent people of color.

For that there needs to be change on an institutional level, Kabuki, and I just don't see that happening. The perpetrators of mass shootings are mostly disaffected white males, but yet there have been so many execution style killings by police of young black men. The police have to do more than make conciliatory noises to regain trust.

When 13% of the population kill 1000 more people than white population in USA, I think your view on where police need to be.

Execution style killings! Please elaborate LaWren? With facts not tabloid BS please.

Did you see the way Tamir Rice was shot dead by police, who then failed to get immediate help to the boy? He was 12. With a toy gun. It was no more than a drive by shooting, less then 5 seconds on the scene, no talking to ascertain if it was a toy gun, no assessment of the situation, just shooting. Ild say that was an execution without trial or jury, of a child.

Violent crimes are most often crimes of poverty and lack of chances - both problems that whites have created for people of color. Only about 1 percent of African Americans, and around 2 percent of black males — will commit a violent crime in a given year. Apparently racists cant do math. http://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/bvvc.pdf
