The caffeine, the sugar, and other chemicals in the drink... it's no doubt this was the cause. Why on earth would you EVER want to drink so much of anything, let alone soda? Darwin award nominee, though probably not a winner.

She died of malnutrition. Who can live without nutrients while assaulting yourself with cigarettes? She committed slow suicide.

2.6 gallons that is 9.8423 liter! and 944.8608 milligram cafeine per day! :o

Specialists recommend that humans do not drink more than four litres of liquid a day. Natasha Harris's daily intake of Coca-Cola would have given her up to a "shocking" 3424 calories and 864 grams (or 3 1/2 cups) of sugar
Could have done the trick.

Yes, it's the coke. Not the 30 cigarettes per day nor the malnutrition. LOL! Lets sue Coca-Cola! Yep, it must be THEIR fault! I would hate to see what her children eat...

@Yanee. Good call! I think the lawyers are already circling........

Note this dumb kopf willingly poured buckets of the stuff down it's gullet everyday, no one held her down and forced down her neck.
She should have been diagnosed with mental problems long before she drowned herself in coke.
No sympathey for this type of behaviour.
Having been pregnant with 8 kids I am sure the doctors would have taken her blood and performed a few other checks on her then telling her to ease up on the soda or what ever she was doing, also note her family stood by and watched.
The story been all over NZ news all day, not many people think the coke compnay is responsible, only the extreme leftys who believe in the nanny state.

I can understand one person using this awful phrase, maybe: "Another pathologist, Dr. Martin Sage, said in a deposition that “it is certainly well demonstrated that excessive long or short term cola ingestion can be dramatically symptomatic..."
But two totally unrelated people in the SAME article??? WTF?
Karen Thompson, a spokeswoman for Coca-Cola Oceania, said in a statement that its products are safe.
“We concur with the information shared by the coroner’s office that the grossly excessive ingestion of any food product, including water, over a short period of time with the inadequate consumption of essential nutrients, and the failure to seek appropriate medical intervention when needed, can be dramatically symptomatic.”
Yuck

4 US fl oz (118.3 ml) powder extract of cocaine ("decocainized" flavor essence of the coca leaf).

Don't things go better with Coke?

I drink two liters of diet pepsi every workday followed by decaffinated diet pepsi in the evenings. Been doing that for over 15 years and I haven't been "symptomatic" - either woodenly OR dramatically.
Coca-Cola is correct that ANYTHING in excess is harmful. If you could do so, getting the equivilent of 55 12-ounce cans of diet soda into your body at one time would mean the artificial sweetener would reach toxic levels.
Another example: I remember when the Wii was released in the States, a radio program in San Francisco had a "Wee for a Wii" contest to give one away. You had to see how much water you could ingest without urinating. A woman died of water poisoning during the contest. Essentially, her cells became so full of water that their normal functions were interrupted and her body shut down.

8 kids at 30? Jesus, no wonder she was on 10 litres a day.
I suppose we can hope that her "partner" fathered at least one of them?
serendipitous

Are you trying to make yourself feel better about your addiction? Two liters a day plus however much decaffeinated Pepsi you drink is still way too much. Time to cut down!

Well, too much of anything and poor nutrition is definately a killer. Says I as I try to avoid rice to keep the weight off....
SuperLib
That's a hell of a Coke habit.
The Truth Matters
You know the people at Pepsi just LOVED this story.

That is way too much coca cola per day! 4 litters?? Smoking all them cigarettes?? Just bloody disgusting! No wonder the woman died! RIP??
HonestDictator
This woman was asking for death. A constant intake of caffiene+sugar+nicotine+tar = DEATH. Can't blame Coca-cola for this.
