Another conflict in the name of religion. If they don't want to live together as Nigerians, split the country in half and give new names to both halves. Which is the most important, the pride of being a Nigerian or any nationality or a your religious belief. Its time to stop using religion as the cause of conflicts. Time to split Faith from religion.Your faith is yours, your belief, I don't want some religious hierarchy to tell me I must belong to their religion to find true fulfilment . I pray with my belief, and in what I believe, and because I want to,not because I have to.

Minello7, if they split the country in two, then what of the people who live in the north who aren't Muslim? They'd be faced with the exact problem that you said you don't want to see, and on top of that the power of secular government would be halved (at best). As the story says, the "followers of both faiths have for years co-existed in the different regions". If we can identify what has changed recently, it would go a long way to telling us what needs to be done to address this issue. It only takes one group of idiots who think have access to weapons and think their views (whatever they are) should be imposed on everyone else for this sort of mess to happen. Whether ideological, religious or political, no one group has the right to hold a whole country hostage to violence.

I agree with Minello, time to divide Nigeria in at least 2 countries, one for Christians and one for Muslims, unless they want to keep helping fight their over population problem by just killing each other away?? RIP??

Donkusai:
The Northern States have already introduced Shariah, so the life of the non-muslims there is a precarious second-class existance at best. Boko Haram simply accelerates the process of religious cleansing.
About splitting Nigera, of course that should have happened long ago. But central governments never agree with that. Remember, the southern Christian state of Biafra tried to split from Nigeria before, and the result was near genocide.
