“I got up and there was thick white smoke everywhere—worse than a fire. I knew straight away that it was carbon monoxide,”

Thought carbon monoxide, is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas

The dude who escaped the mine said it. Miners know that with methane fires the level of CO is usually commensurate with the thickness of smoke. Tons of smoke= high CO concentrations so his quote was perfectly rational. He never said he smelt or saw it, he saw the smoke. Hope the guys all made it to safety. This will knock the coast back a bit if it ends in tragedy.

I hope they can find them but I'm doubtful they will. We can't get lucky twice like with Chile.
