Is it possible that this jet is on the bottom of the ocean still intact?

no, it is not same as "chat and appear invisible" mode. Mysterious disapperance and mysterious search operations, we may never know the truth for few decades.

If there are no traces, doesn´t that make an explosion more likely? Lots of very small parts...

If the accident was caused by the Pitot tubes, then Airbus/Boeing MUST redesign it. At least 10 accidents were caused by their malfunctioning, including that bizarre one that the Pitot tubes were blocked by a wasp and that brought a plane down. A wasp crashed an airplane thru the Pitot tube! Isn´t it unbelievable?

Meteorologists say the Air France jet entered an unusual storm with 100mph updrafts that created turbulence while sucking water up from the ocean to high altitude, where it quickly froze in minus-40 degree temperatures"

So, this jet hit sheets of ice at cruising altitude? Perhaps JT's resident meterologist, Taka313, can tell us if this is possible?

The hail and updrafts are possible in that region. In fact those updrafts can lift clouds 10k ft higher than normal. You are looking at weather 3-5x worse than what you are used to as a max. Think of the worst storm you have seen and multiply by 3.

And hail can shut down a jet engine also.

How long will it take the French to blame USA that they are not doing enough?

German mag Spiegel reports that Airbus had the week before asked all Airbus customers to replace speed sensor parts (I guess they are talking about something related to those pitot tubes).

Air France had ignored the request and not replaced anything.

    Just fwiw
