hOpe in one hand and . . . . you know the rest.
Except that OTHER hand is gonna get real messy if Obama ironically accomplishes anything.
On second hand, I highly recommend against hoping for this Obummer.
If you must hope, hope against the man, if that is what he is and I am not sure on this point.
This way, that other hand will get less fuller.
Easier to clean up.

If you think Obama is wrong, or does not deserve the prize, that is fine. I find him wrong on some things and undeserving as well.
But I cannot think of any reason at all why you would hope against the man. What does he represent that gets you so mad? National health care? Maybe you would like it better if a war of plunder were started to fund it?

ashika1009-- this doesn't make sense to me. Why would you hope against him? He's the president, and in a position of power. I want to hope that he's more than just his speeches, since he's running our country. And I didn't even vote for him.
This prize came too early. But I think he knows that, and thus has an even bigger responsibility now. Which I believe he realizes. I just HOPE he lives up to it.

A whole bunch of deserve part of the pie by the very fact that we refuse to support war, nor go to war. Divide that baby up.

"And Sarge's nominee is..."
How about the man who liberated 50 million Muslims since 2001?
Nah...
And plasticmonkey's nominee is...?

I must say Obama has done a first rate job as president and he certainly deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. He is in the league of such great mean as Jimmy Carter and Al Gore. Peacemakers both. Al Gore truly believes that peace can come from less carbon emissions and both India and China agree on this point. I salute you, President Obama!

I am sorry, I meant great "men." I guess I made a Freudian slip of sorts describing myself! How embarrassing!

Actually that would make more sense then the current proposals in congress right now.
You forgot to include the terrorist Yassar Arafat. Yes indeed, amazing company indeed. The worst President in US history, a man who is one of the biggest liars in history, and a terrorist are his company for this prize.

The nominations for Nobel peace prize closed on February 1st, which means Obama was only in office for 11 days when he was nominated. Must have been quite a week and a half.
bushlover at 06:21 AM JST - 15th October
Yeah that 1994 nomination really just cheapened the whole value of the prize right there. Maybe they started thinking like it should go to the biggest user of Mr. Nobel's invention. That combined with vests really have been part of a lot of "Peacemaking" in the region.
Hoplite at 02:31 PM JST - 15th October
This award has cheapened the Peace Prize. Obama himself said he had done nothing to deserve the prize. It was awarded as a political gesture by one left wing group to another. Shame on the Nobel committee for making a mockery out of the Peace Prize.
Helter_Skelter at 03:12 PM JST - 15th October
It was a mockery long before Obama received it.
WilliB at 12:21 PM JST - 18th October
Exactly. They just took it the extreme now.
Nobel Prize for not being GWB and looking oh so cool.... I don´t know how they want to beat that. Maybe Paris Hilton next time?
anderstungtwist at 10:57 PM JST - 25th October
Giving him a Nobel Peace Prize is like giving someone an Oscar and then hoping they made a really good film.
