BEIJING —
North Korea on Monday slammed the United States for its decision to delay removal of the country from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, calling it a violation of a principle to match action with action toward North Korea’s denuclearization. ‘‘This is obviously a violation of the principle of ‘action for action’ essential for realizing denuclearization, ‘‘said the commentary carried by the official Korean Central News Agency.
The United States has said a strict scheme for checking North Korea’s nuclear information must be put in place before the removal.

No hurry, NK should wait patiently, incase US fails to keep her word (unlikely), re-starting nuclear facilities will not be so difficult.
SushiSake3 at 08:13 AM JST - 19th August
Why do some people still think NK has nukes?
Have they ever tested one?
No.
The 'nuke' that was detonated last year was not a nuke.
soldave at 08:51 AM JST - 19th August
In that case what caused the explosion, and why were news agencies reporting a test (possibly failed to some extent, looking at the size of the blast) of a small nuclear weapon under one of the mountains in the north of DPRK?
SushiSake3 at 09:13 AM JST - 19th August
A very large amount of TNT was the final conclusion.
Why were the news agencies reporting the blast of a small nuke?
Well, where would the news agencies get their news from?
AP, CNN, Reuters, etc.? And where do they get their news from?
The bottom line is South Korea, the US and possibly Japan are the only countries that are in a position to know what is - possibly - going on in NK.
The US DoD admitted their sniffer plane could not pick up any radioactivity after it flew over the site a day after the blast.
A nuke - any nuke - would release clouds of radioactive dust.
This 'nuke' didn't.
The only conclusion sane people can draw from this is that it wasn't a nuclear device.
So, does NK have nukes?
Your guess is as good as mine, but one thing I'm not going to do is jump on the flag-waving bandwagon and start screaming NK has nukes, because the evidence as it stands say they do not, and will not have nukes for at least a decade, if ever.

You forgot China from that list - they probably know more than the others.
SushiSake3 at 09:17 AM JST - 19th August
Does China have spy satellites?
soldave at 10:01 AM JST - 19th August
I believe they shot down one of their derilict spy satellites back in February of this year.
SushiSake3 at 10:03 AM JST - 19th August
You're right, however that was a weather satellite, not a spy satellite.
soldave at 10:15 AM JST - 19th August
But as you said, where would the news agencies get their news from?
AP, CNN, Reuters, etc.? And where do they get their news from?
'95 or '96 saw a Chinese spy satellite come down too. Unlikely but not impossible that they would have stopped their world-watching following that event.

It's known as the Kim Jong Il two-step. Two steps forward, one step back! Just add a buofon hair-do and lifts in his loafers, and wait for the next tin-pot tantrum!

I would think that China wuld have human intell in NKOrea to the extent that they wouldn't have to rely on sat images as much as we do.

SushiSake3, you have to understand. You're not waving the flag and agreeing that the United States is all onipotant and the North Koreans. That's all these posters want to hear. You should be supporting this country right or wrong.
North Korea's future could be very questionable. Look at how Cuba has been treated like the red headed step-son.
North Korea could be waiting till Barack is in office. < :-)

I know one thing for certain.. Because of Kim Jong the people of North Korea are really suffering and that is a crime against humanity!!!!!!!!
All I have read here , not anyone has mentioned the conditions of the people during all of these years .
If China wants to support North Korea, since they are the creators, then China should put the foot forward in stopping all that is going on in North Korea and give them an ultimatum for the sake of the people. I can understand the reluctance of that in some ways as the leaders of China are still trying to understand what it means to take care of even their own, but again this should not be played as some game between the east and west, used as leverage towards US position on Taiwan. China likes to play the role of mediator but that is all about face which China puts all its concerns on. whether face of reality or of fake which is usually the case. Even China could care less about the people of North Korea as we have seen year after year as the people of Korea lack in height and weight because of the under nutrition the people have lived under for so long.. What a pity and crime against humanity.. China is said to be North Korea's main ally, where the hell are they, just playing a game of taking on some face saving mediating international status while so many innocent people in N. Korea are suffering!!!!!!!!!
adaydream at 09:58 PM JST - 19th August
When Kim Jong is taken to the ICC, please make sure that george bush is holding his hand and going with Kim.
Has North Korea complied with the agreement made by the 6 party talks? If so then the United States has an obligation to comply, also. < :-)
TonyUS at 01:14 PM JST - 20th August
aday. you forget the main reason why N.Korea is N. Korea... CHINA.
And China has not done nothing except to play N.Korea as a pawn while the people suffer.
