N. Korea knows that if and when S. Korea is attacked, USA will intervene.

This move is in my analysis, an immediate warning and "appeal" by N Korea of the need for USA not so much to protect S Korea from N Korea, but for USA to get involved in containing China.

S Korea in recent years have been "mirroring" moves made by China toward the rest of the world, as if there was a need to protect itself from possible Chinese aggression. Both N and S Korea needs Japan and the USA to protect them. S Korea needs to keep both Japan and the USA constantly aware and be warned of Chinese aggression. But S Korea cannot align themselves with the rest of SE Asian nations without Chinese intervention.

Both N and S Korea in their physical location cannot protect themselves even if they wanted to. They know that China "intends" to dominate Asia economically and militarily. China as did ISIS "declared" and made open statements indicating they want to and will gain the dominance and power of ages past. In such a situation, S Korea as with N Korea, their only means of survival is for external intervention.

The current move by N Korea is a desperate attempt to get the world to pay attention to their country as they were slowly being "manipulated" by China to become the "scapegoat" for the need for Chinese military buildup and aggressive behavior in the area. N Korea has been the "cover" to lessen the impact of aggressive behavior by China in the region. Meanwhile, N Korea was forced to act "irrationally" to have the world "focus" their attention in the region.

Kim is not a fool. He has traveled and observed events all over the world. He was educated abroad. He may know and understand world politics better and more than most of the world leaders today. Kim dynasty "survived" three generations because they were aware and could handle world politics. They were not and are not a fool.

Just as the US President "acts" as if he may be "incompetent" and "inactive", his seeming incompetence and inaction has "forced" others to "take action" that appear to be a solution but in fact not solution, because the system takes too long to change and because the actual work is not by legislators but by the various department heads the President has put into place. While the legislators "argue", the agenda for change is already taking affect by what the various departments are "doing" and "changing" the entire "operation" of the country. While the people are looking for legislators to take action, their entire world is being "changed" right under noses and feet by the various departments which the President "controls".

Kim cannot act openly against a giant like China, he can only "appeal" to the rest of the world, and especially the USA for help. If he is "ignored", the only way is to "force" the hand. He already knows that the current US President will not take action after Kerry's visit to China. So the "only" option for Kim is an immediate "threat".

Kim's only weakness with the USA is that his country was founded under the so called hated "Communism" and his predecessor's dictatorial rule. That was probably the only way Kim could have "saved" and "protected" N Korea from Chinese take over. Since then the rest of the "idealistic" world has "used" N Korea as an example of "undesirable" nation, only because of their extremely poor economic growth which the rest of the world actually forced upon it by "not" trading fairly with it.

The world is ignoring Chinese aggression in Asia because of ISIS, which is a great distraction for both China and Russia and in a sense the USA (the President) and the rising Religious and Racial wars.

Has anyone thought about WHO really "benefits" from all this?

"Pyongyang was mostly business as usual Friday morning, although propaganda vans with loudspeakers broadcast the state media line that the country was in a “quasi-state of war” to people in the streets." I bet those speakers were made in S Korea.

If this blows up, we'll finally get to see a united Korea... with the South in charge of course. Plus there will be a drastic influx of NK'reans running for the South.

There is one other concern for Kim in N Korea.

Russia is also on the "move" in the North to counter China. The outright occupation and base building on the Japanese islands north of Hokkaido is a good example. That is exactly what China and S Korea is doing with the Japanese and Philippine islands to the south.

The Russo Japanese war was to prevent Russia take over of what was then Chosun. The Korean War too was to prevent Russian take over of the peninsula. So there may be another threat which Kim knows he must face to preserve his nation.

S Korea is "fully aware" of the situation and the probability of war between the divided Koreas is unlikely.

The whole thing is a big Kabuki show. Of course N. Korea can not wage war on S. Korea, and vice versa, seeing that N. Korea is simply a Chinese client. Without Chinese support, the North Korean regime would collapse immediately.

So little Kim is rattling his chain and barking in order to get some attention and concessions. As did his grand dad and dad so many times before. How many times have we seen this whole staged routine before?

Oh please SOUTH KOREA, pull this- kim jong-uhn's "punk card".

A couple south korean soldiers were blown up pretty badly recently @ the devious hands of the north. Stand your ground.

Everyone else, get ur popcorn ready when the bullets start flying. It's about time.
