Naturally the world community wishes Iran to be a healthy member, honest about what it is doing.
Creating a nuclear bomb? Fine, but just say so and let's get on with other things.
Everyone thinks Iran is lying and Iran itself says nothing believable to clear this up. Does Iran really want to imitate Israel?
Iran's predicament is that if they tell the truth now and admit that they are building an atomic bomb, this will prove that they have been lying so far.
To avoid loss of face, Iran will probably keep pushing the lie, even though to everyone else it smells like a lie, and we may all get dragged into a very stupid war as a result.

And which Mossad Black Op's did this?

Well, I have no doubt this is the work of Western and/or Israeli intelligence.
No one likes to see anyone murdered, especially, academics - but it seems a better angle than bombing Iran to halt the un-speakable regime's nuclear ambitions. And it sends a message to Iran's would be Oppenheimers...

who's behind such heinous attacks on these innocent scientists? Western Enemies?

Madverts, it could be any one of the Persian Gulf states. Nobody in the area wants a nuclear-armed Iran.
Israel is just the easiest to blame.

it is unknown who assassinated the university professor. but regardless of whoever did, the iranian government will use this to advance its goal. maybe the poor guy was murdered by iranian secret services. the aim of the iranian government is the extermination of all jews, and to force their religion on the rest of the world, i.e. total domination. poor people of iran, caught under such genocidal leaders. the government of iran will do anything, use any excuse, to justify their goal. when they feel they are sufficiently justified, they will proceed in their war against the jews and the infidels (i.e. all the ones who do not believe like they believe).

Of course they blame Israel. That is a given.
That said, of course the Mossad would be interested in any way to slow down Irans nuclear program, It is extremely doubtful that they can actually arrange something like this inside Iran, Much more likely it is a internal opposition group.
The Stuxnet virus, of course, is a different story. It is very likely that that was concocted in Israeli Computer labs, and good job too.

I do not think the Israelis did it at all. I think it was a set up by the Iranian govt.
The Israelis should come out and say they have lots of bombs

Iran is just another victim of Western arrogance!! Just ask Hugo Chavez what he thinks, ok??

This has the Israelis written all over it. I wonder if they stole some Aussie and British tourists passports again to illegally gain entry into Iran?
1
m6bob
It can be the Israelis, the other Arab states, the CIA, the Iranians themselves. God knows. It can be double or triple agents. We will never know. I like Laguna's Zohan suspicion! It could have been the Zohan, yeah!

What if the Israeli Knesset or the U.S. Congress erupted with yells of "Death to Iran!"?

This kind of surgical strike without messy collateral damage is practically a registered trademark of the Israelis. In some ways you can't help but admire their bravado and efficiency. They also understand that being civilized toward Iran won't do them any good whatsoever, and proceed accordingly. Hard to criticize that kind of pragmatism.

Doesn`t Israel have dozens of nuclear warheads? Why tread on Iran for trying to develop one? There is no absolute proof Iran is doing this.

"it could be any one of the Persian Gulf states. Nobody in the area wants a nuclear-armed Iran. Israel is just the easiest to blame."
Sourpuss,
Oh, I wasn't blaming anyone. The religious nuts running Iran into the ground must be stopped from having the bomb at all costs. ALL costs.
I doubt to be honest that any of the Gulf States have the stones for this kinda job. They might have financed it though....

"What if the Israeli Knesset or the U.S. Congress erupted with yells of "Death to Iran!"?"
They wouldn't, because none of us are yet down to the level of the hardline regime.
If any of our leaders are to get serious about tackling the mullah's, that is to say brandish the bigger, bigger stick, then I for one will be sending beer tokens.

Well, all we know is someone's black ops worked just like it was supposed too. I hate seeing a scientist go out by intentional murder, but this is what espionage is about... to protect many at the cost of a few. I really hope Iran will be revolutionized or something. The people need their country back from the overzealous nuts running Iran in the first place. Sins of the fathers will always visit the children...

Terrorism.
Maybe if outsiders quit meddling in Iranian affairs, the Iranians would not feel they need the bomb?
But first America overthrows the Iran gov for oil in the 50s and now someone, probably America's pal Israel, executes three Iranian scientists on Iranian soil?
Meanwhile, Iran is surrounded by countries with the bomb: Russia, China, Pakistan, India and word has it, Israel.
The current leaders of Iran may be nuts, but wanting the bomb isn't. And executing scientists is just plain wrong. If anyone is so worried about Iranian scientists, then offer them a sweet defection deal. Don't just murder them!
There are some who say that Werner Heisenberg intentionally made incorrect calculations to prevent the Nazis from getting the bomb. What would have happened if he had been assassinated?
1
sourpuss
Snuke,
You can't be serious. Is that your argument? You, yourself are comparing Iran to the Nazis, while at the same time saying they are justified in having the bomb. I mean, it's just too easy to shoot down what you're saying.
Question: What two regimes in the past hundred years have explicitly stated that they would like to wipe all Jews off the face of the earth?
I'll start you out on the answer. It was Nazi Germany, and...
I think you want to rework your line of thinking there.

iran is probably doing it themselves. the scientists were either deemed an acceptable loss or were found to thinking about turning in evidence of wrong doing to the west. next most likely is that it is being done by agents of arab states wanting to damage the iranian program. least likely is that this is an action of the west and israel.

The sanctions regime on Iran is not even primarily about the civilian nuclear enrichment program, but about causing the regime to collapse. The blockading a civilian population for the purpose of instituting regime change in a state toward which no authorization of force has been issued by the UN Security Council may be a problem. Unlike Israel (Egypt 1956, 1967; Lebanon 1982, 2006) or the U.S. (Iraq 2003), Iran has not unilaterally attacked a nation that had not attacked it, and Iran has not occupied other states’ territory. Both Israel and the U.S. have stockpiles of nuclear warheads. Iran has not attacked anyone and hasn’t done so for over a century.

Snuke
Sunhawk, most likely is that it was Israel. Remember when Israel bombed that Iraqi nuclear reactor in 81? Israel will stop at nothing to prevent her Muslim neighbors going nuclear.
Only an Israel loving irrational bias could lead one to conclude the Iranians are killing their own scientists. Denial is just sad. Its like Ted Bundy's mum saying that her son was always such a good boy!

sourpussJan. 12, 2012 - 05:28AM JST. Question: What two regimes in the past hundred years have explicitly stated that they would like to wipe all Jews off the face of the earth?
What a dumb question. There is no comparison between Nazi's that actually murdered over 6 million Jews to big talk by Iran that has not attacked anyone and hasn’t done so for over a century. Why is this conflict taking place? Well, U.S. likes to see the regime collapse so they can secure and control the oil flow to the west for next 20-40 years. U.S. is more concerned with accelated influence of oil investments in Iran by China. They want to control before it gets out of hand.

@pointofview... The difference is.. Israel hasn't spent the last 5-10 years saying that they will wipe Iran off of the map.... So their nukes are for defense... big difference, and unless people have their head in the sand.... the proof is there with satellite footage of radioactive material and not home heating oil

So many suppositions and accusations, whoever is responsible for the murder, what have they gained,? Nothing as far as I can see, except to make peacefull negotiation even more difficult to achieve

It is nice to see that at least someone can keep as secret as to "Who dun it?"

Snuke and sfjp330 are both correct. This stinks of CIA/MOSSAD involvement. Both US and Israel have stated they would "by any means necessary" take steps to prevent Iran from developing a nuke bomb. That humble and honorable presidential candidate Newt Gingrich stated he would do so "with plausible deniability, of course". And all other presidential candidates chimed in tune, including Obama, except ONE wise man who promotes actual diplomacy. No country should have nukes, NONE. But now many do. So the militarists have created this Pandora's Box. This murdered scientist is a victim of assassination, along with numerous others at the hands of evildoers. Who are the evildoers? They are the leaders of the several nations lording it over on other nations. 2012 will not go well.

SuperLib
There has been nothing bit diplomacy over the past 5-10 years. Iran has been offered quite a few different packages where they can get the nuclear power they claim they want while receiving substantial aid in the process. They've declined anything and everything that doesn't give them the option of producing nuclear weapons on a moment's notice.
The fact that there has been no breakthrough isn't because the West (and others) have not tried diplomacy. Some people bury their heads in the sand and assume that the other side will surely come around with more and more negotiations. At some point you have to realize that they simply are not responding to diplomacy.

sfjp330,
Iran took over a US embassy and held it occupants hostage. That certainly does appear to me to be attacked and invading another country. It was an act of war. In addition, Iran actively supports both Hamas and Hizbollah in their attempts to destroy Israel. Iran is hardly an innocent country and the present revolutionary government has hardly been around for centuries.

sfjp330,
Don't blame me, Snuke raised the issue of Nazi Germany. But since he did, how many nations on the earth today go around saying they will wipe another nation of of the face of the earth? That's just asking for trouble. And in asking for trouble, trouble has come for a visit.
And what kind of fools would laugh this kind of threat off? Believe you me, if you were in the Israeli leadership, it would be irresponsible of you not to take actions such as the one in this news story. Your job would be to protect the citizens of your country, not to pontificate about the oil designs of the U.S.
And furthermore, if you really believe that this is about oil and not the nuclear threats of an unstable regime, then why wouldn't those who you believe to be responsible for this have gone after someone related to.....hmmm..... I don't know.....OIL?

this isn't MOSSAD or the CIA. it is just too public and overt. sure Israel might bomb a nuclear power plant, yet if they assassinate people they try to be more subtle about it.
Iran isn't victimless here, they are known sponsors of terrorism. They provide arms to terrorists/insurgents in Iraq and Afganistan.
Brutal totalitarian states are known for killing their own people.
