I personally think some of these are genius... but of course, that's the dark side of me, and never ever would I name my kid anything like these... poor kids... especially Number 16 Bus Shelter.
I find it hard to stop laughing! I can just imagine why the poor kid is suffering such a stupid name, but how could someone think it's okay to name a child that? Don't they have any rules and regulations there? Can no-one at the registrars office say "I'll have to check that name with the boss, to see if it's acceptable"?
"They fail in the first and most important task of parenthood."
I couldn't agree more. When I taught school I had kids in my home room named: Sultana, Raisin, Yahoo, Ooaah, Koey, Dung and Peach. Not unique to New Zealand. Stupidity is a universal constant.
I once met a guy from Venezuela (of all places) whose name was Usnavy, pronounced Oosnahvee. No kidding. His mother saw US NAVY written/printed somewhere and thought it would make a cool name. She evidently didn't know what it meant or didn't care...

What's wrong with a good solid name like Mike Hunt?

I'll just type in a typical response to these types of articles AS if it were relating to Japan.

This is crazy stuff. The next thing you know someone will name thier kids Dweezle and Moon Unit!

Many countries got restrictions on naming kids.
Yet, many get accepted. NO need to look further than further namings done by celebs, china, whatever.
And yes, moon-unit was accepted even in the west. Lots of kids ended up with strange names over the last few decades worldwide.

Midnight Chardonnay doesn't sound too bad.
I wonder what happened to the twins named Saddam and SARS back in 2003...

Maybe she was naming the boy after his father.

Deplorable.
If one is going to give one's child a unique name, it should be a possitive one that boosts confindence:
Capatain Amazing, for example.
