In 2001, the younger Graham described Islam as evil. More recently, he has said he finds Islam offensive and wants Muslims to know that Jesus Christ died for their sins.

Funny that it's OK to meet with someone with this opinion, but if he were to come within 100 feet of a moderate Muslim, the right would be howling away.

@motogaijin - Obama meets with muslim leaders all the time. In any case, right howled at Obama for using dijon mustard instead of ketchup on his hamburger; it is doubtful that anything he does will please them.

Public appearances have been rare, and his hearing and eyesight are failing. Ross said Obama’s visit was the first time a sitting president has met with Graham at his home.

Billy Graham is a living treasure in America. It must be a high privilege for the President to meet Mr Graham at his home.

Pffft! I'm not sure where you got your view from but some conservatives were also present in the antiwar movement (not just white libs would you believe). And the right is represented by different religious denominations.

Isn't that interesting. The senior Graham is on Oval Office tapes more than once, as far back as Nixon, saying the same thing about the Zionists, and undue and excessive Jewish influence in US policy making. Hhmmmm! I'm with Pop anyday.

the prez is allowed to pray to ever and with who ever he wants, but I would prefer he took a no pay leave to do so. We need a better form of separation between church and state.

The American public are mature enough to understand the importance of the separation of church and state. Rev Grahams is a pragmatic leader. With his painful experience with the Nixon White House, and his later insight on the subj., his importance as America's spiritual leader is still unshakeable.

In plain language, there's nothing to bleat about. The separation of state and church won't be shaped by this meeting or future meetings with the Rev.
