I thought this headline was something for The Onion at first.

What in the heck is “violent agreement”??

I guess that when 2 people scream "yeah!" and throw stuff around (like empty arguments).

A lot going on here. Blair meets with Gadaffi, big contracts are signed, guy with terminal cancer doesn't die, Blair and Gadaffi continue meeting.

But he went on to say there was no evidence that Scotland’s decision was influenced by BP.

Interesting way to put it. The question is really was Scotland's decision influenced by the British government, working on behalf of BP and also for the British government's own objectives. If Cameron is saying BP didn't directly pressure Scotland he is probably technically telling the truth. There is also the question of who personally profited.

If Scotland refuses to play the scapegoat role, this stuff could really blow up in somebody's face.

It was obviously a play for oil.

“It was the biggest mass murder in British history, and there was no business letting him out of prison,” Cameron said.

Say one thing and do the complete opposite. People complain about France. France never stabbed us in the back like this. < :-)

Cameron wasn't in power when the man was released - there was nothing he could do to stop it.

Anyway it strikes me that exchanging a cancer-riddled murderer who is costing a fortune to keep and getting contracts and oil in return is a damned good idea.

Al-Megrahi, after killing all those people on the airplane, should have died in prison. < :-)

What's been done has been done. Whether Obama and Cameron agree it was a mistake or not, it wont change anything. Let's move on folks.

There is still some doubt that Al-Megrahi was responsible for the Lockerbie bombing, he may be innocent, not that that matters to posturing politicians. It's a bit late to be moaning about his release almost a year after the event and I notice that the US had no complaints when all the Irish terrorists were released some years ago, even though most of those guys were clearly guilty of murder.

This story's going to get worse. US politicians are now arranging another public hanging demanding British politicians appear before the senate hearing next week.

Whether BP is involved or not, whatever you feel about Al-Megrahi, what pedestal has the US senate placed itself on? The US must get its own house in order and deal with others openly and honestly before staging any more of these reality shows from on high.
