"Obama courts the votes ( voters? )"

Heh, they all court the voters.

  • Altria at 01:52 PM JST - 2nd July

Hmm, Obama seems to be selling out a lot lately.

I was and always have been completely against faith based programs. They are nothing more than a selling point for people to come to congregations. The Government must not support these programs with tax dollars. When I heard GWB speak about this when he first got on board, all I said to myself was no way - we are going backwards...

I am pissed Obama... can't you hear me?

adaydream/sarge: No person who is a prominent person should be allowed in either party. Religion is one of our biggest problems that continues to be a problem. Religious groups with all the money they take in from the poor and mentally challenged, should be able to support themselves and if they want to should make their own party based off their ancient ways.

That depends on the content of the religion. It is ridiculous to put a label "religion" on a belief system then declare they are all the same because we have decided to use the same label. By the same token, you would also say that all "philosophies" are same, and all political parties are the same.

all political parties are the same.' Yes they are, just flip at different times in history. The Dems were once the conservatives...

Philosophy is just a set of thinking, not a method of reaching heaven or enlightenment. Just thoughts for you to use as tools.

Religion on the other hand dictates how you live and how you should believe.

It hasn't worked in thousands of years it has been with us. Its time for a change.

Keep religion out of the government. Any country ruled by religion should not be considered a country at all. Religion goes counter to human and civil rights.

I don't care if you are religious, its not my business. You have the right to practice your religion, at least in the states, and I wouldn't think of infringing on it. However, you will keep it out of the government's house.

Obama is a fool for doing this.

So, the Nazi, Communist, or moderate parties are all the same? Nuts.

" Religion on the other hand dictates how you live and how you should believe. "

Actually, only few religions dictate how you live. And only one of those dictates a life that is incompatible with modern human values and democracy. Yes, content does matter.

White conservative Christians who attend church weekly favor McCain by huge margins

Heh, and those conservative Bible huggers who obama dissed earlier this year will be coming out in force to vote in support of democrat Lemming Day.

"Obama’s high-profile embrace of a key theme of Bush’s time in office—the “faith-based initiative“—is just the latest example of him trying to show his centrist side."

He's showing his "centrist side" alright.

Like Clinton he thinks his supporters are all a bunch of Monicas.

    So, to recap,

Having staked out his über-liberal credentials early in the primaries, the rookie senator from Illinois is now going through "Ideological Makeover 101" as he does a significant series of shuffles toward the right.

Will the REAL barack obama please stand up ...

Obama has been sounding centrist themes with comments on guns, government surveillance and capital punishment. He has even quoted conservative icon Ronald Reagan.

Heh, wonder how the moveon.org crowd and the Kos kiddies like being thrown under the bus.

Conservatives already know obama has shown what kind of faith-based religious organizations he supports

Sitting in the pews for almost 20 years of a church that bashes America and paints the U.S. government and all white people as evil, and donating tens of thousands of his own dollars to further that message of hate.

Actions speak louder than flowery speeches; and the fact that obama spent nearly half of his life supporting that kind of whacked ideology says it all.
