It's always a good idea to wait until after an election to violate the Constitution.

Personally, I don't think Obama will legalize all these aliens. If he were to do that, NOT only would his last two years be a living hell, but the backlash would be a complete suicide for the Democratic party and I think desperately that Dems have been advising Obama NOT to go that route. Also legalizing 5 million or so illegals, there is NO guarantee that they will all fall lock step with voting Democratically, because Hispanics are more socially and fiscally conservative and entrepreneurial, not to mention it would further isolate the African American community as a whole that are already at the bottom of the economic chain.

I think your right. Political party suicide. That accompanied with all those jobs created, all those high paying retail jobs, the Illegals made legal will take many leaving the black community even worse off. But I don't think this administration cares about that.

Geez, Obama is trying to p### off everyone, isn't he? Did he lose his pen and phone?

Of course he delayed the action to reduce the likelihood of the dems losing the senate control. His true color: yellow.

The vast majority of legal experts maintain that programs such as DACA are entirely legal and quite precedented. Better would be a House capable of handling the situation permanently via legislation. This has not happened and does not appear likely in the near future; Boehner's "Next year is the year we'll tackle immigration!" has continued since Obama's reelection. Meanwhile, the undocumented wait in limbo.

Is it fair to the many thousands of would be immigrants waiting to emigrate to US legally and reunite with family ? This is silly! Reward lawbreaking, forced immigration, and not paying taxes like an 'over the table job'.

I much prefer "Legal immigration" by those who follow the laws to do so.

Funny, he did the same thing with the Obamacare employer mandate, it won't be put into effect until after the elections, though this is illegal according to the wording of the law. But I guess few people would be more knowledgeable about breaking the law than a former con-law professor.

Seems that many posters here need to brush up on their knowledge of American law. The president is called the "executive" because he executes laws and is given latitude in how he does so. It's always been that way; perhaps some have only recently become aware of this due to the characteristics of this presidency.

This president is pushing counter American prosperity moves in his tenure. Clueless voters put him in place and the recent poll numbers show he is heading for one of the worst presidents ever.

Weakness in all aspects. Leadership of little to nothing, and more US/foreign turmoil since 1945.

Two other points:

No, Obama is not seeking citizenship for these people - just the right to make a living legally while congress mulls their final disposition.

The Republican postmortem after Romney's crashing defeat promised movement in this area, at the least for their own survival. Didn't happen. This may not harm them too badly in the midterms, but until the GOP faces up to this issue, they will likely not occupy the White House.

Obama has a habit of being an executive and a one man legislature as well. That's why he has been unanimously defeated in the Supreme Court over a dozen times.

No, Obama is not seeking citizenship for these people - just the right to make a living legally while congress mulls their final disposition.

Except that Obama has openly stated that he wants to make all illegal aliens into full US citizens. He won't say what his unilateral immigration ruling will be. However, at one time he told the country that he did not have the authority to do what he is apparently planning to do. Since he cannot get Congress to go along with amnesty, he has decided that he suddenly has the power to make his own law. Bush wanted amnesty as well. Notice that Bush did not decide what makes for a legal immigrant via executive action.

The ends do not justify the means - unless of course you are a Democrat.

Think he'll probably go for amnesty. He's a lame duck, why not pander to base?

As far as executing laws, "latitude" doesn't mean the same thing as "ignore" or "create".

Under the "leadership" of Obama he has alienated the Congress. The Senate is in his hands and November will tell if enough voters see through his facade and make changes for the US prosperity. Immigration is an issue, more importantly is job retention and job creation. Not just jobs, livable wage jobs. No, even doubling minimum wage is not "livable wage" for a family. He seems to push the issue of minimum wage jobs are for those who wish to raise a family. Minimum wage jobs are the ones high school students work and those needing to find a direction in life. NOT careers! Low to no skill=low pay. High skill=more pay. Not federal laws!

Lol!

Republicans and conservative voters mock the president.

What have they done about the issue - besides whine?

Nothing.

What have they done since their post-election-thumping determination to act on the issue?

Nothing?

What is that not surprising?

Republicans and conservative voters - no ideas, no strategy, no clue.

Obamabots may deny the obvious, but any thinking person can see clearly that again (as usual) Obama is pandering to whomever just to try to retain his weakening grasp on party majority. Sadly, enough people are still willfully blind and support the dufus.

John, if you lose power, you can't make the rules.

Politics 101.

It's called 'political reality' and it seems you're not up with it.
