But the U.S. was almost certainly involved.

Maybe, but how? Did they want the coup to succeed? I highly doubt it because the coup was FUBAR from the beginning. Not only did they attack the wrong place to target Erdogan, but they never targeted any media organizations which is kinda "coup 101". The CIA might have instigated it on the one hand, and made sure it would fail, on the other. Kind of a "Watch it! See what we can do!". I don't think the US likes it too much that Erdogan cozied up to Putin, who wants Turkey to change their position on Syria. Or, the CIA and Erdogan worked together for reasons that are obvious now, the purge.

President Barack Obama on Friday denied prior knowledge or involvement by the U.S. in last week’s failed coup attempt in Turkey, saying reports to the contrary are “unequivocally false.”

Why is Obama even entertaining such suggestions, is my question?

Hopefully this is all the time and attention Obama will give to the matter. Conspiracy theorists can think otherwise, as long as they waste their own time and not Obama's.

With the NSA surveillance systems in place now (computer, cell phone, financial) somebody for sure knew something.

It's pretty obvious why Obama's making the statement. Rumor, conspiracy theories put the safety of our citizens and interests at risk.

You guys and your whining about conspiracy theories, Yahoo News misses you.

"Some news reports -- and, unfortunately, some public figures -- have speculated that the United States in some way supported the coup attempt," Ambassador John Bass wrote in a statement.

And this was 5 days ago. Listen children, it's hardly a conspiracy theory if news reports and public figures are asking about it.

A number of credible sources claim that the coup was started by Turkish agent provocateurs w/in the armed forces to flush out those not loyal to Erdogan so as to enable him to consolidate his grip on the country by cracking down on educators, civil servants and the Turkish intelligentsia, who have fought his "reforms" for the past 10 years. What he is doing in Turkey is analogous to what Abe seeks to do in Japan - return the country to the "glory days" of the 19th and early 20th centuries, before it was corrupted by foreign influence.

Heh heh, and in your next post you'll be deriding the MSM... you never know what foot to dance on do you? Yeah, kiddies... Anyway, now you know why Obama responded.

I'm definitely not gonna dance on your feet, since you're such a tough and intelligent keyboard guy! And what was your opinion on Obama's statement? That's right...zip..nada...hack.

I'd rather pick my nose than pick on you Heh Heh
