Obama and the Democrats are leading us into an abyss.

    ha ha, Sarge, that's funny.

bush and cheney already led America off the cliff - and Sarge's 2 votes for bush helped get us there.

The enormity of America's current problems are in direct proportion to the degree the bush administration ignored them.

GOP Pence - “The way to stimulate this economy and help working families is to let Americans keep more of their hard-earned money, not taking more from their wallets,” he said.

lol!! The GOP had 8 long years to stimulate the economy and what was the result?

The worst recession in 80 years.

Listening to the GOP talking about ideas to right the economy is like talking to a serial arsonist talking about why he should put out a fire.

    Deaf ears all round.

The GOP's plans failed, that's the bottom line.

Sarge - "Obama and the Democrats are leading us into an abyss."

Sarge proves once again that taking responsibility for one's actions is best left to the grown ups.

Sarge's comment also proves that conservatives like to look at history in terms of what is convenient for them to believe.

Your comments don't square with the article by the way.

Pence said Obama and the Democratic Congress have taken the economy “from bad to worse with their failed economic agenda and big government plans”

And the Republicans were in charge for a total of 6 years not 8 or have forgotten the 2006 Congressional elections?

sushi, you do realize that you are not that much different than sarge. Find a middle ground, will you. You are active enough to make a difference. Sarge too.

scary note is that most of our elected politicians, and very much on the dem side, have little and/or no real business experience. Obama leads the pack of prez's with the least amount of private sector business experience. So, instead of these two worthless parties trying to bang their dumb heads together, how about this, stay out of it, quit putting so many mandates on entrepreneurs in starting businesses and stop taxing the crap out of us to prop up social programs. We then can start hiring more people.

BTW, if you are living in Japan, you are aware you can collect un-employment, aren't you?

"The worst recession in 80 years"

Which party has been in control of Congress for the past 3 years? Checking... Yeah, that's right, the Democratic Party!

Nobody is leading anybody into an abyss. They are getting sucked into it. The debt deflation spiral has started and there is nothing Obama or the Republicans can do to stop it.

If only bush and cheney hadn't led America into Iraq on a wild goose chase after phantom WMDs, the U.S. economy would be a good $2 trillion better off at this point.

But of course, this is irrelevant because according to the GOP and onservatives, it's always someone else's fault, NEVER their own.

I know this place is rife with partisan hacks, but that's up there on the leaderboard in the "ridiculously simplistic opnions" column.

Looks like you have a bit in common with Republicans.

Sorry, who has control of congress is irrelevant? Really? I'm sure Nancy Pelosi will be happy to turn control of the house back over to her Republican colleagues and we'll see eh? Talk about moronic.

If only bush and cheney hadn't led America into Iraq on a wild goose chase after phantom WMDs, the U.S. economy would be a good $2 trillion better off at this point.

Led by Bush, but approved of by both Dems and Reps. People always forget that point.

So you're saying that 3 years of democratic control of congress is the reason for "the worst recession in 80 years"?

    "Talk about moronic."

    Uhm, yeah....

You have the Democrat recipe - California, and the Republican one - Texas.

A comparison of the economies of these two states - one with a GDP the size of France the other with one the size of Canada - should help some of the economically illiterate 'liberals' here.

The left-leaning LA TImes finally notices Americans also vote with their feet:

Between April 1, 2000, and June 30, 2007, an average of 3,247 more people moved out of California than into it every week, according to the Census Bureau. Over the same period, Texas had a net weekly population increase of 1,544 as a result of people moving in from other states. During these years, more generally, 16 of the 17 states with the lowest tax levels had positive "net internal migration," in the Census Bureau's language, while 14 of the 17 states with the highest taxes had negative net internal migration.

“And what is the White House’s answer to our struggles? Another meeting next week. A ‘jobs summit,’ and most likely another proposal to grow government, raise taxes and place more debt on the shoulders of our children and grandchildren.”

That about explains it all with the Obama administration. Tax productivity, grow government, and increase the deficit and debt. A Liberal knows no other way to address any economic challenge.

The US economy not coincidentaly tanked a few years after Democrats gained control of both houses of Congress. Unfortunately, President Bush did not challenge them and allowed far-Left leaders like Barney Frank to re-write financial regulations forcing banks to lend to people who could not pay them back. They empowered ACORN and other liberal groups to defraud the government and corrupt the financial system.

    Democrat recipe - California

California is not a Democrat recipe but what happens when you let the average American voter vote on everything. Creating political enclaves and hype partisan politics.

lol. Good one. Especially considering his post completely ignored reality.

Republicans only offer the same old same old. Tax cuts for the rich, less regulation of financial systems and military spending. Their "spending is out of control" chants are simply hypocrisy, as they show us, every time they have power, that they do not have a problem with deficit spending and pork pork pork.

Dems on the other hand are doing everything they can to destroy the US economy. Passing a massive spending measures, they called the stimulus bills, which only stimulates the national debt. Trying to pass health care "reform" which would cost trillions more. Wanting to pass the cap and tax scheme to enrich people like Al Gore, while otherwise destroying the US economy. Yes, by all means, lets look and see the marvels of the Democratic party. From my perspective they seem to be saying, and you thought Republicans were bad, let us show you how to really screw things up for America.

The haters will just keep on hating no matter WHAT Obama, who is the greatest president EVER, does. They miss bush and his tax cuts for the wealthy one percent that own just about EVERYTHING in America and force the poor to pay taxes while they just get richer and richer and richer.Disgusting!

Well, anyways, since Faux news is biased and all the other networks are also dodgy I rely mostly on what I KNOW is true, and that is that green shoots of recovery are everywhere in America and the economy is looking up, and will soon turn the corner and be firing on all gaskets.
