Carter, Clinton, and now Obama all trying to be know for brokering Peace. I'll give it to Carter for at least getting a signed agreement and a Peacekeeping Force to watch over the Israeli-Egyptian agreement. Sadat managed to get the whole Sinai peninsula back for Egypt and what did he get for it? A large Tomb in Central Cairo when he was killed by extremists who vow no peace with Israel. Good Luck Obama but don't be surprised that it's doomed to be nothing but a token gesture.

      • "Bristling with impatience, President Barack Obama sternly prodded Israeli and Palestinian leaders to relaunch Mideast peace negotiations"

    Sternly he prodded!

The democratically elected government of Israel and the PLO thugs running the failed state called Palestine will ignore Obama just like Russia, Iran, China and the rest do.

Can't deliberately hobble your own economy, debase your currency and still expect thinking people in other countries don't see what you are up to. They have taken Obama's measure as a leader and found him sorely lacking.

Both sides extremism/nationalism/racism in Hamas/Hezbollah/Islamic Jihad and Pro-Jewish factions(irgun, haganah, IDF), is the big woe to peace in Middle East.

Sept 2009,there has less casualties on both sides, this is good.

Today's incidents 1 eritrean illegal immigrant wanna be killed at Egypt/Israel border by Egyptian border guards. More siren systems going up for Gaza missiles. 2 explosive devices, neutralised by Israel Police in today's news.

Anti israel palestinians, fired shots at Engineers/IDF soldiers at border tuesday afternoon.

USA/Obama needs to prevent casualties on both sides to zero levels first, on both sides of this conflict.

Recently there has been some killing Palestinians at tunnel systems at Gaza/Egypt borders.

There should no acts of killing or violence between Israel citizens and Palestinian Arabs first, before peace can move forward.

Looking at news today in Israel, things are getting better than 1940s,but still a lot more can be done by all sides in Israel/Palestine in 2009/2010s.

The Big wall of past conflicts between both sides prevent major breakthroughs and more walls of division politics, being built by factions on both sides.

Good luck to all peace makers in Palestine/Israel.

Hope 2009/2010s bring less violence and less casulaties in Middle East .

Hope there are more good luck vibes via various peace projects by many parties on both sides.

Unfortunately, Israel, Palestine, Russia, Iran, China, etc. do not listen to the USA regardless if it's Bush or Obama. Good luck.
