I didn't know there was a ban but I'm glad it's being lifted. Better late than never. People shouldn't be discriminated against because of health problems.

Such a comment reveals a kind of "HIV of the brain." Anyway, it's a sick one.

Since there is no danger of HIV being transmitted to the general population, President Obama is doing the wise and compassionate thing here. And showing wisdom and compassion can only serve to raise the esteem and prestige of the United States. (A good thing, but for some little nervous Nellies it is apparently not.)

That was certainly illustrious company the US government kept in terms of policy over all those years! Good on the country for raising itself out of ignorance, and credit (apparently, according to this article) to the previous administration for starting the process.

My comment was quite a bit longer before it was edited, but I guess that's what you get when you point out the idiocy of people relating this topic to Muslims and 9/11. Regardless, no, you wouldn't see me, as you infer, going against this if it were the shrub in office doing such a thing; that's part of the point -- he never did, and Obama lifted this ignorant ban... which, my friend, was STARTED by the previous admin. So, no, it's not at all 'the same thing' as the last person in office. It's the opposite. Lifting a ban on travel for those with HIV is, again, a GOOD thing.

The ban was not started by shrub's administration.
