With the media totally in the hip pocket of Lord Obama, what is not being reported is scarier than what is being reported.

One more example of the complete and total incompetence with which Obama is mismanaging the US. I hate having to say that too, after he made a good call on Iran. However his continued stance on Iran is a mistake, his actions here with Russia are a mistake. I want to believe that at least in the area of foreign policy he can make some good judgements, but I'm starting to question him even here. He has so far made 1 good call, along with a dozen bad ones. Thats not a good start to being President.

Obama is destroying our nuclear deterrent, leaving us open to attacks by our enemies. He is an appeaser as i have ststed before whilst the Liberals mocked me. Now my words have come to pass as true. Time to load up with ammo and buy some gas masks before we are defenceless.

How could Obama do a deal with Putins puppet?

Amazing, the republicants are on the wrong side of history again. First meeting between Russia and the USA in seven years, since bush looked into Putins eyes and said he knew his soul. Putin knew then he was dealing with a dope.

Now Obama goes out and reduces nuclear weapons by 1/3 for both sides, a huge breakthrough and a great example for the rest of the world that are looking to develop their own nukes. Amazing progress that any real american would appreciate for their own security and the security of their kids and grandkids. And It included a deal to allow the United States to transport arms and military personnel across Russian land and airspace into Afghanistan.

But the same old tired wingers cant get it. They want more nuclear bombs so the world can be destroyed 10000 times over instead of 1000 times over. As I said before I thought that perhaps the repubicants were just being mislead by bush, now I see they are worse than bush. As Pogo said we have met the enemy and he is us. Us being the republicants.

As Pogo said we have met the enemy and he is us

You must be speaking for yourself.

  • 0

    zurcronium

No, VOR, I clearly was speaking of the LOVE party. Starting wars based on lies and wasting trillions of dollars is pure republicant playbook material. Wanting to ramp up nukes like spy versus spy in mad magazine is pure republicant material. Always saying no or next to nothing and unwilling to add anything positive, that is pure republicant material. See examples above. Obama is making the world a better place, all the right wingers add is whining and disinformation.

That is why you lost the last two elections and will continue to lose for many years to come. The Palin and Sanford party is so over. Quitters and cheaters, that is all that is left.

I'm thinking this is has been a very productive summit for both sides. What Russia wants, essentially, is to be treated like an equal. Its all about face and international standing. The more respected Russia feels the less likely it is to act out on the international stage. Obama has been giving the Russians exactly what they want (with little cost to ourselves) thereby decreasing internal pressure for M&P to play to the hard liners.

As to the nukes: Cold War's over, guys. We can afford to shave a third off the arsenal.

Not yet! Next Cold War is against Islamic countries. They have nukes.

I love reading this republican rheteric.

The US and Russia maintain 95% of the nukes on earth. We agree to reduce a few in our arsenals. The few we get rid of is a small start to rid rhe earth of nukes.

We still have plenty to totally destroy the earth several times over. But the republicans would cry that we're leaving ourselves open to attack.

I'm glad to see a few nukes reduced from our arsenals. < :-)

molinir - "He has so far made 1 good call, along with a dozen bad ones. Thats not a good start to being President."

Making comments like that isn't a good post-election-nuking start for a conservative. It's also rich coming from someone who supported the pointless invasion of Iraq.

DickMorris - "Obama is destroying our nuclear deterrent, leaving us open to attacks by our enemies."

Rubbish. He is planning to reduce the size of the US arsenal.

"He is an appeaser as i have ststed before whilst the Liberals mocked me."

We still do and for very good reason.

"Now my words have come to pass as true. Time to load up with ammo and buy some gas masks before we are defenceless."

lol! Remember, "Duck 'n Cover!" :-)

Fantastic job Obama. I knew we would be reducing our nuclear stockpiles anyway. As others have made clear, ones that get it, we have no need for 10,000 nuclear weapons along with Russia having 10,000 nuclear weapons.

Not all Republicans have an aversion to facts but certainly the conservatives who have posted thus far are experiencing fact aversion.

China has something like 800 Strategic Nuclear Weapons and 400 Non-Strategic Nuclear Weapons. (very hard to be accurate since a slow build up has been suspected - these numbers tend to be on the very high end)

Russia has something like 6000 Strategic Nuclear Weapons and 4000 Non-Strategic Nuclear Weapons.

U.S. has something like 7,200 Strategic Nuclear Weapons and 3300 Non-Strategic Nuclear Weapons.

Next would be France with something like 384 Strategic Nuclear Weapons and 80 Non-Strategic Nuclear Weapons.

UK has something like 185 Strategic Nuclear Weapons and no Non-Strategic Nuclear Weapons.

    http://www.cdi.org/nuclear/database/nukestab.html

So many of these conservatives need to live vicariously through the military power of the U.S. Basically it makes them feel like a badass. Ridiculous? You don't have to tell me.

Obama also acquired substantial agreements concerning cooperation with Russia concerning Afghanistan. They will save the U.S. $130,000.000.00. About 4,500 flights of American soldiers and equipment will be going through what used to be our enemy. And they're paying for it!

We will get back to conducting exercises together again. No not calisthenics. Military exercises. This is very useful in getting both side's military leaders together. They have to coordinate and will need to work closely to do so. It should be very helpful in improving military relations between the two countries.

Now for conjecture on my part. I suspect eventually we may give up the defensive missile sites in the Czech Republic and Poland but it would be accomplished through referendum votes in those countries (Pretty slick, I know!). But I am very unsure about that. I think it would be conditional on us building new sites somewhere else that Russia claimed they found acceptable. Russia has express major displeasure with Georgia and the Ukraine being accepted into NATO. I would be glad to give up the defensive missile system in Czech and Poland for a no hassle entrance of these two countries into NATO. Of course we run into the same old problem of their preparedness. Are they fit to enter NATO? They must contribute and not just accept our umbrella of protection. I think the U.S. will be unrelenting when the time comes and will accept Georgia and Ukraine into NATO. Russia knows they will have to accept it and try to get some concessions out of us to save face. Purely conjecture; that is all.

One extra special good thing we accomplished is strengthening the hand of Medvedev. I hope Putin does not get to be president again. It looked like a very real possibility recently. Maybe if Medvedev served two terms it would take Putin out of the picture.

You will notice the conservatives get more pissed the more Obama accomplishes. They can't stand that he is a strong president. I seem to remember when they were saying he did not have enough experience to do the job. He is in fact doing a splendid job and he works his ass off. Clinton worked pretty hard, which is well known. But Obama is blowing away that record by long trips and hard work on those trips. Long hard days but look at all he accomplished just in this Russian trip.

goodDonkey - "You will notice the conservatives get more pissed the more Obama accomplishes. They can't stand that he is a strong president."

    Excellent post.

"I seem to remember when they were saying he did not have enough experience to do the job."

They also hassled candidate Obama's 'community organizer' background.

What they don't mention is that candidate Obama's 'community organizer' skills helped build the strongest, most effective election machine in modern U.S. history, blowing away every other candidate from inexperienced lightweights like Sarah Palin to hardened pols with decades of experience like Sens. McCain and Clinton.

This is good news coming out of this meeting between presidents.

It's a pity U.S. conservatives will do everything they can to deride their president's actions.

My figures are vastly different from the article. As I have been reading there are two numbers total and active. Shell game I know. But the numbers in this article appear to be active numbers. I had to research many websites and came across very convoluted facts. I would suggest just going to wiki to view the difference in numbers. I have since closed that page.

Despite the cult of Obama's rants, Obama's charm offensive is failing.

Obama having to sit through the indignity of Putin lecturing him on the cold war is another stain this guy is leaving on the presidency.

Obama didn't get some lecturing about the cold war, they did have good conversation. Conversation that is leading to the reduction in nuclear weapons. Something that your party in recent years hasn't accomplished and hasn't even tried to do. < :-)

Okay daydream, Putin speaking for one solid hour and Obama sitting there with a dumb look on his face is a conversation......right.

Face it, Putin took your Obama to the woodshed today.

Obama is going to need a lot more propping up from the press to help him appear presidential.

Prove that statement. They had a conversation that will lead to the reduction in nukes.

How many nukes have the republicans gotten reduced in the past couple of decades? How many nukes did bush get reduced during his administration?

You can run your republican rheteric, but you can't supply the facts to back up the sludge you post. < :-)

Obama sitting there with a dumb look on his face is a conversation......right.

Imagine.... Just imagine, that Obama is looking shell-shocked in front of grade-schoolers while America is being attacked, with a copy of My Pet Goat in his hands. What could possibly look dumber?

We understand, VOR, how proud you are of Putin's performance. In your fantasies, you dream of the president being shown up by every foreign leader, no matter how messed up their country is.

I am less proud of our young President's abilities than proud of Putin. Obama's lack of experience in national security matters is on display leaving only the cult of Obama to kiss his feet. sorry fellas, you guys are too far gone to see things objectively. nice try though.

    proud of Putin

That says it all. The wingers really love this guy. They worship him. 2012, Putin and Palin for the Republicants ticket. They both can see each other from their houses.

Putin knows if he just throws Obama a few bones, like letting U.S. aircraft fly over Russian airspace, he'll have his way with him.

  • 0

    VOR

you are absolutely right Sarge, Putin knows how to play Obama like a fiddle. The Russians are licking their chops. They know they are not reckoning with a statesman like Reagan but merely dealing with a community organizer of about equal stature of Al Sharpton. Without playing the race card all Obama can do is apologize, give away the farm and apologize. While the cult of Obama fool themselves into believing their wet behind the ears president is saving America from itself, the rest of us who really do care about freedom and democracy know otherwise. Watch Obama put American lives further in danger when he announces the end of missile defense.

Reagan, who nearly agreed to give away all U.S. nukes at Reykjavik? Reagan, who proposed giving the Soviets Star Wars technology carte blanche? Reagan, who once claimed there was no word for "freedom" in the Russian language? Oh, love is blind to the cult of Reagan.

I suppose I'd prefer wet behind the ears to nothing between them.

I guess Putin doesn't mind that Obama will not agree to preventing Georgia and Ukraine from joining NATO. I guess Putin did not want Obama to agree to end the missile defense plans. I guess Putin liked getting schooled for its war last year with Georgia; getting rebuffed on insisting that Georgia's breakaway republics, South Ossetia and Abkhazia, are independent nations; and for interfering in Ukrainian politics. I guess Putin wanted to be schooled on Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, the Rule of Law, Equal Protection under the Law, Right to Assembly. Putin wanted to hear Obama's discontent with squelching dissent and engineering deeply flawed elections.
