Fighting global warming may be as big a waste of time and money than invading Iraq. It might be about shadows same as WMD was. But since no one will die in that fight, I am not nearly as concerned about it. It might even stimulate the economy more than the needless war.

likeitis: people may be dying in that fight already; larger than normal storms (hurricans), strange weather patterns emerging world-wide, etc. It'll only be too late that we acknowledge the truth about Global Warming.

Fighting the effects of global warming is different than fighting global warming itself. Reducing pollution and CO2 emissions, focusing on alternative fuels and fuel efficiency, and furthering global cooperation on those aims are not going to get masses of people killed. Some will whine that it will have a negative effect on the economy, and they could be right. Some will whine far more about that than they would about an actual useless war!

I`m more concerned about a celestial body ramming in to the Earth than I am about Global Warming. If there was a true concern then fossil fuels would have been fazed out or well on there way out. The Global Warming scare has made a lot of people rich...not one country has met there emissions cut target. Go figure...

Not one country has eliminated poverty, cancer or domestic violence either, and they're problems that have been with us a lot longer. Go figure, indeed.

Exactly! But why haven`t any of these things been fixed? Are people that stupid in the world to not figure it out themselves?

Since you're obviously not stupid like the rest of us, how come you haven't told us all your sure-fire plan for eradicating poverty, cancer and domestic violence? And phasing out fossil fuels?

If I have a true concern about junk food and ciggies, I can make the personal choice not to eat rubbish and not to smoke. It's a start. To totally avoid second-hand smoke, I need bigger guns - intervention by government to stop people smoking in my space. When it comes to dealing with fossil fuels, it's a much bigger problem since so much of our lifestyle and economy is dependent on them. And the people who want us to continue being dependent on fossil fuels are pretty powerful, and their voices are heard in much higher places than ours.

So, what's your solution?

A worldwide recession puts a bigger crimp into CO2 emissions than any politically correct carbon trading scheme can ever do.

Yes, environmentalism is a noble cause, but face it, most of the ideas floating around are simply naive... environmentalists pretend that we can have our cake and eat it.

Let's see if the main media starts airing more and more global warming segments as we have seen less and less stuff on the war now that the repubs are out (noticed they have only aired bad news on the economy which there is a lot, but there is a lot of good news not getting reported)

'People aren't doing their jobs' isn't a solution, it's part of the problem. Another part of the problem is that when the politicians voted in to 'do something' actually do, they get voted out again. So to answer your earlier question, taken as a whole, in that sense, Yes people in the world are that stupid. It's the 'have my cake and eat it' syndrome; people want everyone else to make sacrifices and 'do right' so that they don't need to alter any aspect of their own lifestyle.

It's about time the global warmists faced up to the COLD hard fact that we humans aren't causing global warming ( or cooling ) ( or at least no more than a miniscule percentage of it ) and that we can't stop Mother Nature from doing what she wants to do to the planet, and that about all we can do is DEAL WITH IT.

Set for release this week, a newly updated U.S. Senate Minority Report features the dissenting voices of over 650 international scientists, many current and former UN IPCC scientists, who have now turned against the UN. The report has added about 250 scientists (and growing) in 2008 to the over 400 scientists who spoke out in 2007. The over 650 dissenting scientists are more than 12 times the number of UN scientists (52) who authored the media hyped IPCC 2007 Summary for Policymakers.
