And onwards to victory. Yet another promise kept by President of the United States Barack Hussein Obama. Too bad the last "resident" of the White House couldn't muster the balls to do the same.

It's a promise he kept, but the conditions in Iraq have gotten so bad that this is a real mess. We have the Taliban running lose in in Afghanistan in areas that have been run by war lords. we have Pakistan making buddy...buddy with the Taliban.
We got problems that Barack Obama has now inherited. But he kept his promise. < :-)

Lets just hope he doesn't falter in the face of the liberal backlash once American casualties also increase. That'll be his true test.

The Fringe Right are quaking in their woolen booties.
Now, they know this is something their poster-boy previous president should have done from Day 1 but caved in.

Let's see now... 'No blood for poppies'? No, that's one thing the Left is willing to risk lives for. Al Qaeda is going to put up a fight in Afghanistan - I just hope Obama doesn't concede defeat like the Dems did when the going got tough in Iraq. Conservatives will not desert our military no matter who the President is. However, the Left will stab Obama in the back if he doesn't reverse course and begin to get the radical Left in Congress under control.

Wolfpack, I have no idea what you are trying to say. It seems like you are quite lost in the wilderness.
I approve of putting the focus on Afghanistan and trying to finish the job there far more than continued tinkering in Iraq. But, I have no hope for Afghanistan or our worn out forces being successful there.
My prediction for the future is that continued failure in Afghanistan will cause the people to become disillusioned with Obama. But just remember, those of you who support this, you wanted it. Why? Some because you let yourself get goaded into supporting useless war by hawkish nuts. Never mind the righties, they will complain no matter what Obama does, even if somehow, someway Afghanistan becomes a model of democracy and peace, they will complain, I assure you.
Our real problems with the Taliban started because they harbored an enemy of ours. They have been punished roundly for that. Its time to leave them alone. Let them kill each other. All our involvement is doing is giving them more reason to fight and more opportunities to capture foreign hostages.
I am sorry Obama ever made this promise. I am sorrier that he will keep it. To heck with Afghanistan.

The real shame of course is how bad things have become in Afghanistan since the troops were diverted from their original purpose in 'the war on terror' and the US was duped into Iraq. Now they're going to be put back in Afghanistan and the worst it's been yet, and things will fall apart in Iraq (they're going to anyway, but now they'll be accelerated). If only they had been kept in Afghanistan to finish the job in the first place.
It's a shame Obama has been left with such a debacle in BOTH places. Hopefully he can clean it up at least in Afghanistan. Iraq? I hope that improves, too, but there was no business being there in the first place... especially as a diversion for not being able to get OBL.

Good point Smith. It was foolish to open a second war front (Iraq) before the first and more important (Afghanistan) was finished.

I keep hearing all the republican trash about Obama's Afghanistan war now. About how Obama is going to get this job done. The right is so critical about Obama and how he's going to handle the Afghanistan and Pakistan problems. So mouthy.
But when it was george bush's war, they were so forgiving of the how it's being handled.
That's alright. I don't think we will ever see the troops driving through the streets and waving flags that we have a ****VICTORY**** in Afghanistan. There will be a time when we say, it's time to come home. We will never see VICTORY like we did in wars past. The Russians tried to control Afghanistan years ago and failed.
In all actuality we will never see the VICTORY. There will be the point that we say, we're going home. Don't attack us again or we'll be back. But to see a VICTORY, won't happen. < :-)

When it was George Bush's war there was no mantra of "change" !
Obama preached, promised, change... but will fail to deliver. Guess what... you all just got suckered !

stiffdrink we've already had more change in Obama's first 3 weeks then we saw in george bush's 8 years.
Like I said we've seen change and I like what we've seen. Suckered? Nah, I'm very pleased with what Obama has done and look forward to more change. < :-)

adaydream - the capture/killing of Osama bin Laden would be a VICTORY in achieving justice for 9/11. That'd be a damn good start in my book.

USAFdude I agree it would be a damn good start. But it's not victory. He may be the leader, the master, the agent of fear and catalyst to many many deaths, but this doesn't stop the fighting. Dead or alive (especially dead) he would be the martyr for terrorism.
I just don't know that we will ever see victory. If we could leave Afghanistan in the shape that Iraq is in right now, that might be considered a victory. We'll just have to wait and see. < :-)

Kill him & the day will come when we see Osama bin Laden T-shirts & that is a day I do not look forward to. “Victory” in this case is making that man disappear.

“Guess what... you all just got suckered !”
Guess what... you couldn’t possibly know that, not yet anyway. Give it a year & let’s see if your “prediction” (guess) comes about. In the meantime your cynical bitterness betrays you more than it convinces anybody of the rightness of your words.
