Up until last summer right to work legislation wasn't even on the table. It wasn't discussed and nobody was giving it any serious consideration. Then the Unions started putting ballot proposals on the ticket to enshrine collective bargaining in the state constitution and to expand union coverage via mandate and the citizens of Michigan rejected it outright.
The Unions picked this fight and unlike Wisconsin they won't find much sympathy outside of their shops. A lot of people still blame the unions for the state's descent from the powerhouse of US industry to the laughing stock of the mid-west after years of democrat leadership of both the state and the city of Detroit. Now the new bridge is getting built and we're getting away from the auto-industry. The new focus has been on finance and high end manufacturing.
I'm normally pretty willing to spread the blame around the political spectrum but words cannot describe how much I despised Granholm. Maybe between the new bridge and destruction of that draconian business tax things will finally start turning around, my city deserves better than what its gotten the past 20 years.

We can complain about this so called right to work stuff, but please do not forget that the SLAVE labor over in CHINA is just waiting for greedy, big American companies to say, you know what hell, lets just move all of this work over to cheap ass slave labor friendly CHINA, and then the USA will have EVERYTHING Made In China, etc..but no USA, does that sound like a bright future for the USA??

I thought at least according to the Media that after the last election the Republicans were in total collapse and destined for extinction in America as a political party or force. Also it would be nice if someone could inform President Obama that he can actually stop campaigning now that the election is over.

Elbuda, you might want to read up on the trend of some manufacturing being returned to US.
