I praise them too, for fighting (both willingly and unwillingly, when your unit is called up it's not like you have a choice to go or not) and doing their job regardless of the screwups above who have recklessly endangered their lives since the beginning of the Iraq invasion.
Uhh,actually, the notion that we just praise one side in this issue is,is too divisive. What we need, uhh,in assessing Iraq,is flexibility, and not just this victory at all costs mentality. That's the mentality that has broken the transAtlantic alliance.
I also agree that this is a great time to adjust or priorities.
Bring the troops out of Iraq in a safe and protected manner and redeploy future forces to Afghanistan, where our fight should have been localized.
We have Al-Maliki wanting us out, we have a dire need to locate more troops in Afghanistan and we have the opportunity to allow Iraq to stand up on their own feet. < :-)

Obama praises U.S. military in Iraq
Can't do the same for their civilian leadership, including
Donald 'Fingers' Rumsfeld
"Defferrment" Dick Cheney
and George "Heckuvvajob" bUsH

I agree with the Republican Mantra:
If it wears a uniform, praise it.
If it's not our uniform, shoot it.
If it wasn't the right guy, label him a 'terrorist'
If it gets too complicated to support, blame Bill Clinton!
There, all problems solved.

Sushi, what do you think of Obama's praise of the military in Iraq? (smile)
SushiSake3 at 05:29 PM JST - 15th July
SuperLib, he 'has' to do it.
Otherwise many of the not-very-smart, gun-rights loving, SUV set will harbor suspicions about Obama.
I hope you're not one of them (smile).

So you're against Obama's position on the US military in Iraq?

Politicians will say anything to get elected. What else is new.
