Change the policies, change the policies. Until you do that then the no abortions policies still stand.

He says we need to find common ground to expand access to affordable contraception, accurate health information and preventive services.

And abstinance policies don't prevent pregnancies. < :-)

You gotta wonder about a country where abortion is considered by many to be something that should be made illegal, but abstinence good and something to be encouraged. The end result of both abortion and abstinence are exactly the same - no child.

President Obama doesn't want to 'punish' his children with a baby. Therefore, I'm sure that no one should question his strong commitment for abortions.

"Obama restates his commitment to infanticide"

He comes to the inauguration trying to look like Lincoln, mouths his best impression of Martin Luther King, but that is where it ends. Both men - both Republicans - were they alive, would turn and walk away from this pretender.

Wolfpack - Don't you know that the pro-life movement is all about protecting the life of the fetus, oops, I mean unborn child, and is no way way an attempt by religious zealots to "punish" women for sexual activity or discourage other women from sexual activity.

You go throwing around words like "punish" and people might start getting the wrong idea.

No it isn't - because abstinence only works in fairyland. In the real word, people practicing abstinence, if they don't have themselves incarcerated in a nunnery and locked into a cast-iron chastity belt, are likely at some point to find themselves doing something they weren't prepared for. And the result of that is a pregnancy.

We hear a lot about these anti-abortion rallies, but we don't see those same people holding pro-contraception rallies.

    Ooops, hit the wrong button.

...and until the pro-lifers get responsible about contraception, their arguments hold little water.

I'm not saying that abortion is a good thing; as far as I'm concerned, every abortion is a tragedy and a sign of failure. Prevention is better than cure.

As long as a person is not doing it out of convenience, I can't see why abortion should have ever been illegal.

Also, if has the option to have or not to have, should the guy have the same option and not get hit with child support?

I see no problem with most abortions and it doesn't matter the reason. I'm not in favor of aborting the unborn in the third term except in extreme (and undefined) cases, but this is primarily a specter that the "pro-life" movement conjures to call for a strict no-abortion-at-any-time policy.

You know, if people had been more responsible, perhaps the issue would never have come up.... While I don't like the sound of abortion, far too many young girls have gotten ditched and left with little choices and the people who wait outside those clinics, while I won't criticize their intentions, should leave them alone.

However, those pushing to allow young girls to get an abortion without informing their parents is also a bit unpleasant. If my daughter were pregnant and left, I would want to consult with her and make the matter a family decision and give as much support as possible - then of course I would hope I have a son by then and would go and do one of those Santino 'Sonny' Corleone in the God Father did to Talia Shia's husband......

"so our daughters have the same rights and opportunities as our sons"

How about our daughters and sons still in the womb?

How about our daughters and sons still in the womb?

How about our sons and daughters still in the ovaries and testicles? Just how far back can we go?

For the overwhelming most part, we are not talking about third trimester abortions here. Usually what we are talking about is not really alive and cannot live outside of the womb. It is not self-aware. It is not so readily distinguishable from many other animal fetuses or embryo. Anyone being so sentimental over that needs to get some priorities, because of all the nasty things that happen in the world, the death of what was barely alive has got to be one of the smallest.

Even the God fearing have got to see that God seems to have no problem with wasting millions of sperm cells even if one does get to cause a pregnancy. He also sees no problem with wasting lots of eggs too. They don't get saved you know. And natural abortions? Yep, he does that too. Most in the first trimester. Just like us.

How about the womb? Too far?

How about the womb? Too far?

Maybe not far enough. And if God won't tell us, maybe we should just leave this up to matters of individual conscience and then let God sort it out later.
