I agree. And the McCain bunch thinks that sounding big, using foreign conflicts created by the US, failed "Family Values" and the distraction of Sarah Palin will win the election. They aren't even admitting that we have an economic problem. < :-)
we have an economic problem"
I don't. I have actually very well for the past three years. A lot of my friends, family, and co-workers and even staff back in the states are doing well..
Sure, there is a problem but a president is not going to be the one to either fix it or break it.
The dems are no different than the repubs when it comes to fear mongering. The repubs paint an enemy will attack picture and the dems will paint a soup line picture.
Fear works both ways in presidential elections.
I will say this. My taxes are high right now. I will be damned if I have to pay any higher taxes especially for the fact that I live in Japan, not in the states yet I will be required to pay for schooling that my kid won't go to, I'll be paying for poverty stricken people I don't know.
according to one economist who works here says that while the ceiling for overseas earned income will not go up in the number, getting the breaks like many of do now won't be there.. Its got me a bit worried. You combine the taxes I pay living in Japan (I don't mind, I live here), my taxes on my business in the states (additionally the insurance costs I am required to pay along side benefits), capital gains, and property are already too much..
I'll have to pay taxes to provide Japan, Korea and Germany military protection from the enemy. (Whoever their enemies are.)
I have to pay more taxes for a trumped up war george bush wanted. I don't want to. The republicans want to pay even less if they can. (I'd love for this administration to repay Social Security the money it borrowed to help finance the george bush Memorial War in Iraq.)
Maybe we'll just lay it off onto our/your grandchildren to pay. Why should I worry if I lay this debt over to them.
Don't forget that as soon as FannieMay and FreddieMac goes under, the national debt will increase by $Trillions. I don't want to pay that either. I'm sure you don't either.
We're all going to reap the rewards of the bush administration. Continueing his policies don't seem real bright under McCain/Palin. < :-)
What a rare opportunity. I get to agree with both of you.
I'd like to see us stop attempting to defend and baby-sit the world - just focus on our own defense. I'd also like to see the federal government reduced to the powers granted it by the U.S. Constitution - no federally funded social programs including Dept of Education.
By combining both of your ideas we'd have a stronger defense, more personal freedoms, and be stronger financially.
I'd like to see us stop attempting to defend and baby-sit the world - just focus on our own defense.' absolutely.

Ah, but you don't care about the health, education, and welfare cost of illegal immigrants - BOTH CANDIDATES are vying for?
Don't forget that as soon as FannieMay and FreddieMac goes under, the national debt will increase by $Trillions. I don't want to pay that either. I'm sure you don't either."
Then you need to be smarter than that. The worse things get for either Fannie or Freedie, the better things get for me.... Perhaps the next president will do his best to prevent lending institutions from lending to people who can't afford to back it back, not even reasonably!
I'd also like to see the federal government reduced to the powers granted it by the U.S. Constitution - no federally funded social programs including Dept of Education."
Hey, you know you hit a good point. My brother learned that even though he sends his kids to a private school, there is nothing he can do to minus that off his taxes, so he is basically paying for that Dept. of Ed.
I, which neither O of McC are talking about is to dramatically reduce the size of the government. You have aday up here calling out the war, but he is missing so many holes. The cost for that screwed up organization called the Government of the US is actually the highest cost we have and to this day, and no one, not dem or repub has done anything to reduce it, even slightly.
Obama is going to cost us, right in out pockets a lot and McCain won't be too far away...
Obama noted that McCain campaign manager Rick Davis said the election would be decided largely on voters’ perceptions of the candidates’ personalities.
Who is this Rick Davis trying to kid? The main reason why the Republicans want the election to stay away from the issues is because the issues will reflect 8 years of failed Republican policies.
So Obama's plan to get the economy going is to tax the people who do the investing and hiring in this country into submission, then filter that money through the federal government to people who don't have the same work ethic.
So I guess what Palin said last night answered any questions I should have about the economy. And John McCain will tell us his plan for fixing the economy, right?
I don't even remember Palin acknowledging that we have any economic problems. < :-)
All candidate need a better economic plan. We have made life a lot more difficult than it has to be. Government personnel are paid for collecting taxes, paying saleries for advisers etc. to determine where the money should go, then send it to the state government to pass on to the local government. All those steps take away from the amount of money available for any project.

Hey skipthesong - Under McCain all those items you mentioned would be nice to see done, too. But forget it. < :-)

Oh yeah, there's an incentive program!
