In his address, Obama also said Republicans are the ones at fault for preventing votes on his nominees to key positions in the government. Former President George W Bush often had the same complaint about Democratic lawmakers.

Yes, its Republicans... Its always Republicans. Normally Bush, but we have to get a few swipes in at those currently holding office too. Certainly its not the fault of Obama who never, ever makes mistakes. Despite his ever growing record of ineptness and incompetence. No, its always the fault of some Republican somewhere.

Molenir - "It" in this article is the failure of the bill to gain sufficient support to be enacted. Because the Republicans voted it down. How is that Obama's fault?

    Molenir,

you are finally getting it right after all these years. The bush depression came about from republican encouragement of rampent greed with little oversight by agencies in the government.

Its up to the democrats to clean up once again after the republican failures and massive debt creation. Clinton did that when he took office and left the boy blunderer a surplus. That was wiped out quick by the republican congress and president.

So yes, you are right. 90% of the time the problems in this country from tens of thousands dying each year with no insurance, to failed wars that cost trillions, to phony government programs that make the rich richer, to allowing the massive oil spill by BP to happen the republicans do cause the numerous US probems that now Obama has to fix.

and for those who could lose their jobs without new federal intervention.

Translation - public sector jobs (teachers, city administrators, clerks, police, etc.) that have been protected since 2009 by "stimulus" money that was supposed to be used for new public works projects that were in turn supposed to generate new private sector jobs as a byproduct.

So it's not "stimulus" but rather a very expensive unemployment checks for unionized government employees.

tens of thousands dying each year with no insurance

My grandmother is back inthe states going through a painful decline in health. Her medical insurance is being covered by Medicad, the public health plan for elderly that has been in place for a long time, that my grandfather though they didn't make much money paid into from his work for so many years. So I am not understandigng where the masses of uninsured are. I know plenty of poor people who get better health care than those who have jobs and have to pay for it.

to phony government programs that make the rich richer A god example would be many of the "poverty eradication programs." Having lived in porere areas, it was these such programs that were pushed by many Democrat politicians that actually only helped those who adminsitered the programs get very rich. Just do a goole search or read the book on Jesse Jackson called "Shakedown" and you will see that for all of his so called fighting for the pror, his organizations have helped very few people. In fact, his "community organizing" and using government grants helped him to own one of the largest liquor distributorships in Illinois. Go figure a supposedly relgious man who owns a distrubuting company that sells liquor to por people.

to failed wars that cost trillions Yeah, I can agree withthat. But to really end the war, the US needs to stop trying to fght on Defense and start knocknig some heads and actually try to win an not worry about wha tthe feelings are on the "Muslim Street." I fault both administratios on that.

to allowing the massive oil spill by BP to happen The Minierals Management Serice was headed by an Obama appointee. The inspectors failed ot do their job, no doubt these guys were ired many years ago and are not patronage jobs that change under each administration (the lower level ones that is). Also, when "W" was in offic I kept hearing how Haliburton was the devil, but they were the ones actually doing the drilling work.

the day Americans are willing to pay taxes will be the day that America works to paying off their insane debt. Until then, nope.

sf2k, Americans are willing to pay taxes, but not willing to pay exorbitant taxes because the government can't get spending under control. Take California for example, because of their over spending and pandering to the public employee unions they have a huge debt. So what did they do, they went ahead and just blatantly charged everyone in the state an additional 10% state tax hike. This was not only for the "rich" but for the poor too, who have very little to tax. They did this without a public statewide vote, just something the legislature decided to do. Did they decrease their spending to the public employee pensions and jobs? No, they left things as the same.

I don't mind paying taxes, but not to just keep paying them so that the government can just keep spending on programs that are not working to keep the status quo.

with little oversight by agencies in the government.

zurcronium, yo uever stay in a HUD (Housing Urban Development) home? That is a pretty name for a project house. The agencey that is supposed to be overseeing these houses is broken, and living in one of these projects is like living on the old "plantation." But the upper lever administrators are making a nice living, and there is money going around for those who are supposedly there to fix and repair and provide other services.

It's too early to stop the benefits, in my opinion. People are still scared and not spending money. Businesses won't hire if they think sales are about to take another hit. We just saw new housing permits take a nosedive after the tax credit expired. It's too soon.

"People are still scared and not spending money"

It's the same here. The damned TV just screams it out daily and everybody clings onto their cash. Everybody suffers!

Why does the GOP want to inflict even more damage on America?

The 8 years they in power had was bad enough - now they want to kick hard-working Americans in the guts AGAIN?

  • 0

    yanee

Why is it always the Republicans fault? Isn't there a Democrat MAJORITY in the house? Why can't your faithful leader Obama even get HIS OWN people to sign off on his requests? They HAVE the MAJORITY people!!! Because even the Democrats know Obama's policies are are bad news for America!

Let's see .... the democrats have held a majority in the House and Senate since the 2006 mid-terms and The One and his F-Troop's been at the helm for the past year and a half and everything's still the republican's fault?

Man, that's some strong Kool-Aid being sucked down.

This would be funny if it weren't for the misery being experienced by the Democrat/Obama debacle.

It would have been wiped out quickly if al gore was president because of the recession that occurred quickly into bush's first term, it would have happened under gore too.

The new breed of republicans seem to be about, "screw you, I got mine" as evidenced by their leader, el rushbo.

Fortunately for them, there are still some people who think they'll share their key to the executive washroom with the unwashed masses. The repubs pick their pockets while they whip themselves into a frenzy.

Were not talking about America's brightest.

Republicans smell funny, too. I was standing next to one the other day but I had to move for fear of getting cancer. They spread that just by touching you, ya know....

So Obama is crashing the American economy, making sure as many people as possible need unemployment and its the Republicans who are making the jobless worse off?

Obama has added more debt to our national debt in his 1.5 years then the republicans did in their 6 years controlling everything, and the American economy did not start going to shit until the democrats took over Congress.

In other news obama's approval numbers are going even lower.

  • 0

    Sarge

hworta - Of course it's the Republicans who are making the jobless worse off. Remember, President Obama and the Democrats inherited the recession from Bush and the Republicans and it'll take years of record deficit spending to fix it, lol.

    hworta269

Actually the Democrats took over Congress in 2006, there was no recession at that time. Obama inherited the economy from Pelosi actually.
