"America’s self-styled “Pacific president”

I guess that's better than "War president."

To my mind, this man has no appeal beyond his most loyal acolytes. His pettiness and vindictiveness, his demeaning rather than respecting any and all who don't completely agree with him, leave him with an empty reservoir of good will.

America is a complete failure, both economic and political, no matter if the president is democratic or republican. No difference. And it is bringing all its allies, European and Asian, toward the collapse. The American model is failed, no matter what state propaganda says.Sadly the US don't want to work together with the other countries, they try to keep their fading hegemony by wars like the ones in ME, rejecting always a good relation with Russia, and treating their European and Asian allies like vassals.

Alex80: ... and treating their European and Asian allies like vassals.

How so when it's the USA doing the heavy lifting?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

@turbosat: the US started ME wars whose consequences are paid by Europe, involved our European countries in them against our people will, hurt our relation with Russia...the list is long. In the Far East, the US are supporting/forcing militarism in Japan because they don't want a united Asia, they created the TPP crap for the sake of big American companies only, they speak about a China threat when they are way more present everywhere messing up the world by wars than China. The US created the biggest world financial crises since the end of WWII with Lehman Brothers disaster and also this way they think their economy is a model (?). They are involving all their vassal states in their wars around the world. The list is really long, as an Empire they are such a failure and the more their hegemony becomes weak, the more they become nationalist, violent, irrational. A scary country acting behind the mask of "democracy".

I'd still rather be a US middle-class, voter / taxpaying, free citizen anyday compared to whatever italy has to offer to the world.

It is not that Mr. Obama wants to keep an eye on Asia. When did he really, actually spend the time and effort on Asia in the past 7 years?

That is the key question one must be asking.

Why are Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Vie Nam and other Asian nations, including S. and N. Korea so concerned?

The same goes for his concern and involvement with Russia.

Why?

It certainly appears that he is not willing, because he cannot show himself to be an "active" President. If he was, he must "confront" the Muslims and terrorists DIRECTLY. That is something he is not willing to do. By not getting involved anywhere, he can avoid being placed with aiding any particular religion, race or group of philosophy. So he goes to Hollywood and criticize the Republicans, inciting religious and racial prejudices which he himself obviously seem to have deep within but blaming them all on others within the USA, but never on certain other groups.

Wc: do you think to be free? Good for you. Ah, I prefer to be Italian anyway. I believe our food is the best. :-P

@wc: do you really think to be free?

@Alex -yeah. Why would you think otherwise?

Sadly the US don't want to work together with the other countries, they try to keep their fading hegemony by wars like the ones in ME, rejecting always a good relation with Russia, and treating their European and Asian allies like vassals.

I'm sorry you feel this way. No matter how much you go out of your away to discredit america, life is not so bad there for upper / middle class. Sure, the american "dream" in america is fading. This is why we don't need more foreigners (& islamic, asylum seekers).

Go to America Alex. Look at how rich and successful the chinese are. They keeping coming too. How many rich chinese are investing in Italy?

Here we go again with the ridiculous US hatred and it being responsible for "the entire world".

"They are involving all their vassal states in their wars around the world. The list is really long, as an Empire they are such a failure and the more their hegemony becomes weak, the more they become nationalist, violent, irrational. A scary country acting behind the mask of "democracy"."

Didn't you say you come on this site because you like Japan? Sounds to me like you come on here to hate the US. The idea that Obama 'created the TPP because he doesn't want a unified Asia' is ludicrous, and serious paranoia to boot. There's only one way that Asia would be unified if the US were not here and not involved in regional affairs and that would be if it were all China.

Moderator: Sorry, no bickering.

I had no doubts you thought to be free, indeed. I don't think we, western people, are free like the media say. I am smart enough to see how, for example, also in news sites, we are not really free to express our opinions.

First, upper/middle class is fading. Second, what about the poorest people? Do you care only about upper/middle class? Third, welcoming asylum seekers is a moral duty, not something you do only for your benefits. Specially since America created a lot of mess in the ME. Italy is far from being perfect, but in my country also an illegal migrant can get medical care for free. In my country there's not death penalty, that in my opinion is a barbaric act. In my country we have not something like Guantanamo. There's plenty of things America could learn from Italy, despite you think your country is so superior. In what, exactly? Italy doesn't start wars around the world. It follows only Nato orders. Your country orders.

Go to America Alex.

No, thanks.

Also in Italy Chinese are rich and successful. Probably you don't know Italy has one of the biggest Chinese community in Europe, and I like Chinese people very much. :)

If not for for US Western Europe and Japan really would be vassal states of the Communist parent states. Europe and Japan are not paying the cost of US presence to protect their countries. So who is the vassal state?
