Unlike some military operations we've seen in both wars, I'm glad to see some planning.
Yes Sarge I know the surge worked. But bush didn't have anything to do with that action.
Obama's bringing 100,000 out of Iraq across 18 months and putting 17,000 into Afghanistan until this news. Now there's the possibilities of more. We'll have the fighters available then that those members who have served three or more tours shouldn't see any more. < :-)

I see a headline with the words Obama and troops in it with only one comment and I open it to find adaydream talking to himself as usual. Go figure...

Isn´t it great to see all these Obama admirer suddenly being pro war. Yes, lets send more Western soldiers on a wild goose chase into the Himalayas. They are great canon fodder for Jihadist bombers.

Not so much pro-war as pro-justice-for-9/11. Or (dare I actually say it!) have you forgotten?

What in h*ll does squandering more Western lives and ressources in order to prop up a Shariah regime in Afghanistan have to do with 9/11??
What a ridiculous justification.

Supporting for a legal war and supporting an illegal war are two totally different things.
The Iraq war is a sham that was sold to the American people by the used car salespeople in the Bush administration.
The war against terrorists in Afghanistan was a real war, but Afghanistan was missing one small component. Oil reserves........
We should have sent troops into Afghanistan from the very beginning. But the Bush administration made up it's mind to fight a war where there were little to no terrorists.
If the Bush administration really was looking to defeat our enemies they were doing it the wrong way and in the wrong place.
For all those far right wingers that were so hawkish to send our men and women to die for no reason, they were criminals and traitors.
They should have lost their posts and been brought up on charges.
But all the Bush administration did was promote the guilty and dismiss and try to destroy the innocent, the true patriots!

I have advocated for over 6 years to get the job done in Afghanistan. That Iraq was....... you all know.
Then when I post the very same thing as usual I get the same republicans who were war mongers all along, like to make sniping remarks.
USNinJapan2 I was talking to you. I knew you'd be there pretty soon. But do you agree that we need to put more troops in Afghanistan and attempt to finish this operation, attempt to give it back to the Afghanstanis and bring our troops home.
Do the job and bring all the troops home.
Bring home the troops from Korea and Japan and Germany, also. < :-)

I thought that during the election, the Dems were saying that the war in Afg along with the one in Iraq were wrong. As a matter of fact, looking back, I can't recall the Bush Administration and Congress declaring a war in Afg. So, here we have two "wars" the one in Iraq that was voted on by Congress that Obama and the rest of the Dems hate; and the other in Afg. that was not voted on (I could be wrong on that I have to check) that they would like to continue on.
I thought Obama said that he would find bin Laden too. I guess he is going to keep that campaign pledge. Funny, how he can get to send troops to Afg. to look for him, but "W" caught hell for looking for him.

The only thing ridiculous here is your belief that you could possibly twist my statement in condoning "propping up a Shariah regime in Afghanistan".
I want justice for 9/11, you moron, something your buddy george w. bush never had the balls to pursue. Justice for 9/11 is something any real American would want.

Actually President Obama and most democrats said that the real war should be Afghanistan and not Iraq. Unlike the Republicans who claimed that the war was always in Iraq.
Here is a web site that is so anti war that is far more left than President Obama will ever be. Please note that date and what it says about Candidate Obama wants to do with the war in Afghanistan.
The two links below are about how and when President Bush ordered force versus Afghanistan. Please note that we have been at war in Afghanistan since Oct 2001.

Love the links name, War in Afghanistan 2001 to present...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WarinAfghanistan_(2001%E2%80%93present)
BTW we responded against Afghanistan (2001) before we President Bush took his dog and pony show on the road to try to sell the war in Iraq (2003).
Please check out the links above they will give you a better time line of our war on terror than the far right wing talking points.
Thank you, President Obama made a pledge that he was going to catch Bin Laden. President said he would bring those responsible to justice, but he failed.
"W" had Bin Laden in his sights in battle of Tora Bora, but Bin Laden was escaped.

Read and become enlightened, stop listening to the far right wing news. Listening to that dribble will only make you believe that President Obama is a Communist and that he has been President for the last 20 years.
Wake up and take in the real news, history is hard to re-wite these days. Even though the far right is trying.....LOL

So after claiming the surge wouldn't work in Iraq, and still not admitting this strategy has been successful even after Bush clearly achieved his planned objectives for ordering it, President Obama wants to duplicate Bush's surge in Afghanistan. Huhhh??? So now Obama wants to kill innocent civilians and send more of America's young fighting men and women into the meat grinder?

Wolfpack how can you say Bush clearly achieved his planned objectives when those objectives changed almost daily at one point. And when I say changed, I mean forced to change because reality did not match up with ideology rather than change as in a strategic and/or tactical adjustments to match the reality on the ground. Events led Bush rather than the other way around.
Obama is going after OBL and al Quaida who were the principle planners of 9/11. Remember them? Remember "smoking them out" bringing them to justice "dead or alive"? Christ it is 2009 and OBL is still at large. America still has unfinished business. Business Bush left for someone else to do. If you want to complain, then complain why Obama has to wipe up after Bush (again).

No, the troops belong in Pakistan if we really want to solve or win this campaign.
Never going to happen.
Never going to happen.

USN - Like hell it won't. If you've given up on the mission, separate from the service.

You do understand that military might alone won't "win" the campaigns in Afghanistan and Pakistan right? I have every faith in our four armed services and our ability to accomplish our individual and collective missions in that region, but that alone won't get us to an endgame where we really can "bring all the troops home" as adaydream so simplistically put it. We need just as much political and diplomatic support to attain total victory in GWOT (if that's even possible) and I don't see it. Not one bit. Many of us have been deployed to Afghanistan and know firsthand that we're on a political leash over there that severely limits our success. The politicians in DC (both sides of the aisle) don't listen enough to our commanders on the ground and as a result everything we do is done with one hand tied behind our backs. We excel in doing what we're permitted to do but it's simply not enough. That's why I said what I said that I don't believe we'll ever see all the troops coming home because we've gotten the job done, at least not in adaydream's lifetime. We in the military can realistically achieve tactical military victory over AQ, Taliban, etc. if allowed, but we're not equipped to win the battle of ideology which unfortunately isn't being waged seriously by those that should.

I agree with you, the surge did work. But it was too little too late. If President BUsh had listened to Shinseky instead of canning him guess what. We would never of needed the "Surge" because our men and women would have been safer than they were.
Bush failed our troops and put them into a situation that was not winnable. How can you expect to win a war by only placing 100000 boots on the ground in a country that size. You would have to be a complete fool to do so, and yes Bush listened to his fools and see where that got us.
Bush also never had an exit strategy nor did he have an after action police strategy. He and his fools believed all the B.S. Chalabi fed and and thought the Iraqi people were going to hail Chalabi as their new leader. But to put insult to injury the only folks that knew of Chalabi were the folks who want to arrest him.
Funny how his name disappeared after the war ended and the policing began. Now the man has a desk job and no one trusts him.
Do not know who Chalabi is? Look his name up....he is the guy who sold Bush on the war bait line and sinker.....Sucker
LOL now that is funny, a War Hawk turning tail and wanting to run from the real fight. This is why it takes a Democrat to win a war that a Republican started.
If you want a news flash here it is, the real war on terror was against the Taliban and Al Qaeda and not against Iraq. You were sold a bill of good that was worthless and instead of looking into it you believed it because the President had a R behind his name.
But now that a President with a D on his name wants to win the war on terror you want to run. Why are the far right wingers so much against war now? Colors are hard to hide especially when they are on your back...
We need to take the fight to the real enemy and stop working for the Oil companies. Many, many Democrats and Independents have been saying this since the war in Iraq began. But the Republicans only wanted to be goose stepping to a different tune....a party tune.
Get on board and have a pair to fight the true enemy. No Islam is not the enemy, fanatics are! Time to fight terrorist on their home field with a real force!
