The three-course menu included lobster ravioli, griddled filet of aged Highlands beef, crushed jersey royals with rosemary, asparagus and minted broad beans, topped off with classic pecan pie and brandy ice cream for dessert.

That does sound better than the Queen's state dinner menu featuring "Windsor lamb" whatever that is. Seriously though, the Obamas have been hitting the right notes, though the speech at Parliament rang a bit false. "Europe and the U.S. still leading the world" wouldn't go over well in East Asia, that's for damn sure. Obama tailors to the crowd.

His speech sort of put down other people. Not very nice at all.

I didn't hear the speech but it sounded mostly realistic from the article. I don't think Asia has any real interest in the responsibilities that go along with leadership, not at this point at least. Japan never has and China like to use the "developing nation" status to it's advantage. The West isn't perfect but if you imagine someone else leading who would it be? Are you having good thoughts or bad?

Obama argued that only the Western allies have the might and fortitude to promote and defend democracy around the globe.

About the only good thing about the ongoing destruction of Western Civilization, which we are bearing witness to, is that "Liberal Democracy" will sink with the ship. No one else would be foolish enough to bet their future on a system that has led to the death of the West. Europe's "might" is so depleted that they can't even force out that desert rat, Gadhafi. And as soon as it becomes a choice between handouts and "promoting "whatever" around the world, that fortitude will dry up too. Maybe something better will rise up out of the ashes.

    "gruesome moments in British history"

I've read about some of those.

"The three-course menu included lobster ravioli..."

    Lobster ravioli!

    "... brandy ice cream"

Ice cream doesn't need brandy in it. Ice cream needs vanilla beans in it.

it would be better to have no leadership at all than as the current self assumed "i-better-know-what-you-need" leader as hypocritical "West" is.

America's leadership role won't remain strong if the GOP's plan to destroy their country gets the go ahead.

"America's leadership role won't remain strong if the GOP's plan to destroy their country gets the go ahead."

This isn't solely about the US, it's about the West.
