Why don't they just offer OB Laden an award for making our Airlines safer? When he comes to collect they can nab him then. A Mohammed Award surrounded by 12 virgins or something like that cast in gold. Don't forget the bouquet of flowers as well. That's the left wing way of catching an international criminal isn't it?

I guess, then, that the right wing way of catching an international criminal would be to blow up wedding parties in the hope that the criminal is in attendance?

While it would be a good thing to catch OBL, it is no longer as important as it was. That particular cancer has long since metastasized and his capture will do little to abate terrorism. Killing him will do nothing--or worse.

And letting him get away with murder will teach the world that it's ok to let terrorists get away with murder and that the US is powerless against it. Maybe the Golden Mohammed isn't so bad after all.

Napolitano? Isn't he related to Tony Suprano?

Napolitano ... (was) among the first governors to commit to Obama’s candidacy.

Yet more political payback by obama, heh, the guy who promised American voters a "fundamental change in Washington".

Hehe, I was strongly opposed to Obama, but looking at this pick, I have to admit to being suddenly happy at Obama's win. I'm originally from Arizona, and seeing Napolitano go as governor, I'm just not seeing a downside. Though considering her position on illegal immigration, putting her in charge of Homeland Security is kind of like putting a fox in charge of the chicken coop.

Sen Hillary Rodham Clinton seems more likely than ever to be Obama’s secretary of state

This is what happens when someone like obama runs for U.S. President with promises of "Hope" and making "fundamental changes in Washington". He wins and then says to himself, "Damn, now what do I do? I don't have any close associates who qualify for these positions. Let me call hillary and tell her I was just joking about all of that stuff I said about her being a Washington insider during the primaries."

    ramen,

It's not that President-elect Obama doesn't want to keep on anyone from the bush administration, it's just that they are all incompetent or indicted.

    What's a guy to do?

On a serious note, I believe Homeland Security was the position Gen. Zinni was up for. Damn I wanted (and still want) him to be a part of Obama's cabinet.

So why are you "suddenly happy at Obama's win"?

    "Janet Napolitano"

Good grief, couldn't Obama have found a more qualified candidate for this extremely important job? Oh, that's right, Obama isn't qualified for the job he's going to take over from George W. Bush in January - never mind.

What about Bush's former Secretary of State Colin Powell, who supported your boy?

Heh, obama is making U.S. Grant's cabinet look like The Dream Team.

So why are you "suddenly happy at Obama's win"?

Because I'm originally from Arizona, and she is the governor there. Having her take the Homeland security post means, no more Janet for Arizona! On the other hand, I've never been a fan of McCain either. If he had been elected, I would have been happy he was no longer an Arizona Senator, as it is, I'm happy to get rid of Napolitano. Looking at it now, for me anyway, I just don't see a downside to this election. At least not for Arizona.

    bushlover,

Who said anything about letting him get away with murder?

If anyone said that, it was Bush, when he said that he wasn't that concerned about OBL. When he said that it was a flip-flop on his promise to "bring him to justice"--to say nothing of a mockery of the pretext for the invasion of Afghanistan.

I don't think Napolitano has said that OBL should get a pass. Obama hasn't said it. And when I say that OBL is not now as important as he was, I was suggesting that whatever OBL may have started, it has become super-sized and OBL is no longer the leader of it.

Well Sez, it seems you are agreeing with Mr. Bush. [And when I say that OBL is not now as important as he was,]. You are now towing the Republican Line. Congrats on your flip flop.

Since when does a change in Washington mean an administration that consists only of people that have never worked in any field that a government is responsible for? Yet this is what anti-Obama people keep implying. If so then Obama himself would not be able to be part of his own administration!

Well, bushlover, if you have no counter argument to what was said, it's always amusing to make something up and argue with that.

There was a time when capturing OBL would have been of high value. That was when we let him slip through our grasp, gave up the chase and marched into Iraq to create another mess. Since then, OBL has replicated himself many times over. The disease which was localized is now out of control.

Even if Napolitano were to offer him award and flowers and serve him tea and crumpets as well, she could hardly do worse in terms of "bringing him to justice" than her predecessors. A flip-flop is a reversal of position on a set of unchanged facts. With OBL what changed was that the Bush administration upgraded OBL's position from catchable to uncatchable. For Bush to say he was not concerned with OBL was sour grapes. For others to observe the changed conditions and remark on the diminished importance of the tall, bearded guy, is simply an accurate read.

If you are still having trouble with this concept, if the Celtics are up by 11 with 6 minutes to play and the announcer says they are winning only to see them down by 7 with 30 seconds left on the clock and having to announce they are losing, the announcer is not actually making a flip-flop. There might have been a flip-flop, though. Maybe bad coaching?

Your Right!! OBL is not so important. I think he's been reported to be driving taxi in Islamabad.
