So nice to see Obama have the courage to make this change when other Presidents, both Democrats and Republicans, have faltered. It was long overdue.

It's about time. Thank you Obama for normalizing relations with Cuba.

@Crazy Joe "It's about time"

Among them : talks on human rights

Hardly Cubans want American talks on human rights. Rather they need normal trade relations and large amount of cheap food.

Increase the peace!

The Cubans in the US still oppose this, because for some of them they actually saw in person what was going on in Cuba before fleeing. Some lost friends and relatives. But as soon as that embassy opens up in the US, then I expect them to start protesting daily against the Castro regime.

Actually,

A large majority favors diplomatic relations with Cuba (68%), with younger respondents strongly backing the policy shift (90%). Support for re-establishing diplomatic ties maintains a solid majority among all age groups up to age 70, after which it drops to a third of the population supporting the policy. Those arriving since 1995 favor the policy shift by 80%. A majority of registered voters express support—55%. This number balloons to 83% among non-registered voters

The Cubans in the US have justifiable concerns, but we've let them have their way for over 5 decades and nothing has changed. The embargo is nothing more than a relic now.

It will be a good thing to have normal relations. Next the embargo can be dropped and the people of Cuba can live better lives. Having a strong economy and good relations will mean no Russian bases in Cuba. Better yet would be if Guantanamo Base would be returned. I do think something needs to be done in exchange. Then again other for detainees it is not needed and would save the US money by closing it.
