"Massachusetts voters have opted for GOP govermors as a hedge against perceived excesses by the Democratic-run state Legislature"

Massachusetts voters should just vote the Democrats out of the state Legislature as well.

Bush and family screwed up the US economy BIG TIME, and people who forget that the USA had a very healthy economy under CLINTON, then screwed to hell y too many years of Republicans, have a real short memory, so if you need help, go watch a few Michale Moore DVDs, Sicko etc...this economic mess was inherited by Obama, not made by him, and it will take time to turn the biggest economy in the world around, but if YOU DO NOT VOTE DO NOT COMPLAIN. The USA is a democracy and we should all vote.

  • 0

Yeah, let's all get our info from Michael Moore DVDs.

elbuda - The USA had a very healthy economy under Clinton? The dot com bubble was healthy?

"This economic mess was inherited by Obama"

He wanted it, and then when he got it he made it much worse.

"it will take time to turn the biggest economy in the world around"

Yes, we keep hearing it will take most of Obama's two terms to fix it, LOL.

Numerous Democrat contenders across the country are so desperate to distance themselves from Obama Pelosi Reid and their miserably failed policies they are basically campaigning as 'tea party' supporters.

    Klein2

Re the election. Hey. It's the economy stupid. If Dems lose it will be because of bad data. That is the way it goes.

More importantly, the GOP/Tea Party thing has jumped the shark. Mark my words on this. O'Donnell's witch thing. Mr. Nazi impersonator, the Colorado chop-shop operator. IF they get elected, they will be lame ducks, isolated from their own parties, disorganized, and very very junior in every sense of the word. Non-vetted scandal magnets.

In a few years, they will have no record to run on, and they will be "the establishment." One and done.

But the election will look like a success to all observers, and the internecine problems between the GOP and the Tea Party will only get worse. Palin will stop sounding "Tough" and will start to sound "Shrill." She will cross that fine line. So the GOP that pins its hopes on the energy of the Tea Party will watch as the air goes out of that balloon and leaves its convention packed with a bunch of angry thugs and no new ideas.

So yeah. Democrats should not be discouraged. I think they will win in many of these races anyway, but if they lose, I hope they lose big to Tea Party candidates. America always deserves to get what it wants. If it really wants Tea Party, who can argue with that?

Obama responded directly to the protesters, saying his administration had increased AIDS funding and told them to, “take a look at what the Republican leadership has to say about AIDS funding.”

Someone within Obama's F-Troop should have reminded him about which U.S. President spent $48 billion on AIDS relief in Africa. Mr. Bush's administration was far much better on AIDS funding than the democrats who now infest the White House.

We’re doing the grinding, sometimes frustrating work of actually delivering change.

Shame Obama himself has now admitted his policies are failures. Specifically, his failure surrounding his deficit-increasing Spendulous Maximus bill which, in a NYT Magazine article, Obama concedes that "there’s no such thing as shovel-ready projects."

Heh, how will leftist liberals defend Obama from his own words? Man, Obama makes it harder and harder for them every time he opens his mouth without the aid of a teleprompter.

"Internecine" ? Seen today's news? Bill Clinton, still probably the biggest figure in the Democrat Party, is on the campaign trail stumping not for Obama but for Hillary.

Obama urges Democrats to not get discouraged

CNN Money: "Boomerang Kids: 85% of College Grads Move Home"

"Getting a degree used to be a stepping stone to limitless career opportunities. Now it's more of a hiatus from living under your parents' roof. Stubbornly high unemployment -- nearly 15% for those ages 20-24 -- has made finding a job nearly impossible. "

    Change !

Not sure why the Liberals here are so against the Tea Party and its supporters. Just think after November elections how many posts they'll finally get to write just like the good old days. The Tea Party is already creating 'shovel ready commentary jobs' for them and J.T will benefit from all the hits on the posts. Also good to see Obama campaigning for Gov Patrick, his opponent could use the boost to really help him close up the 5 point gap between them during the next few days.

"Change!" "Yes We Can!" "Fired Up, Ready To Go!"

Oh, wait, you mean I actually have to govern as President?? It's not just one long popularity contest??

Not sure why the Liberals here are so against the Tea Party and its supporters.

Because for decades Libs equated popular protests and large scale rallies as being of the Left and by the Left (and in their narcissism also thinking 'but for the benefit of all' - - whether all wanted it or not...).

The tea parties are a serious existential threat to these people;hence the knee-jerk characterization of them as 'racist' - the most loaded term in America today, and the accusation that can have the severest legal consequences in your place of work or for your political career.

Until left and liberal are abolished as swear words in US by Americans themselves, I can't see how the country improves or learns to accept responsibility for anything it does. Obama has held the worst back temporarily but ironically Americans will vote for the worst to come. Truly mindless.

An encouraged right, a discouraged left and a middle angry at whoever is in power. All very similar to 2008 (but in reverse). I might think something of it if the GOP had some new ideas, but they don't... Two years of gridlock and finger pointing coming up. On the bright side the economy will undoubtedly fix itself at some point :|

“There is no doubt that this a difficult election. That’s because we’ve been through an incredibly difficult time as a nation,” Obama told the crowd of mostly Democrats.

So, his incompetence and socialist policies which have bankrupted the country even more, well that has absolutely nothing to do with it eh? Way to go Obama, keep on passing the buck. Its a far cry from the days of Truman, thats for sure.

Obama has held the worst back temporarily but ironically Americans will vote for the worst to come. Truly mindless.

Hmm, held back the worst eh? How precisely? You mean the failed "Porkulus Maximus" bill which directly added a trillion dollars to the debt, which many economists, even from the start, said would not work. Or how perhaps you're referring to his trillion dollar, and extremely unpopular Obamacare stupidity. Maybe the bank regulation bill that adds burdensome new regulations on every single business in America. The only stupidity I see, is how anyone could possibly vote for a 'Dumb'ocrat after the last 2 years under this incompetent moron.

sailwind, so true. Just look at the decline in the viewship of such networks as MSNBC and the others. After the election and "W" was gone, all of the anti-W press and bad mouthing of the Republicans all seem to vanish. Now, those on the left who hate the war in Afg and Irag, and the other things that come from US policy have only their own to blame.

I think if the House and Senate shift, and the majority of the governorships shift, the left will probably be a bit happier. That way they can start back trying to get their mainstream media ratings back up by bashing the side that will be in power, and deflect some of the heat for some of its failed programs.

It's much like the story of the dog chasing a car. What will he do with it when he finally gets it?

RR: "Notice that all Obama can talk about is how bad republicans are - not how good democrats are."

You've GOT to be kidding! Show me a Republican election that has ever been anything BUT this. Need I remind you of the tactics McCain and the dolt took in the last election? Not a single thing about what they could do, only how bad Obama was. It's been that way for ages now, and yes the Democrats sometimes steal a page from the Republican book of, "When all else fails, sling mud". At least the Dems are being honest with what they say, in contrast to nutbags like Paladino who makes up stories about love affairs.

MisterCreosote: "The tea parties are a serious existential threat to these people;hence the knee-jerk characterization of them as 'racist'"

Ummm... no. The accusations of intolerance and racism towards the tea-party movement members is based on their intolerance and racism, bottom line. This is so clearly the case that even the GOP and other TEA-PARTY members are backing away from them. It was like when you were panicking on this site the other day over the tea-party member's comments -- you and TimRussert were making 5 - 10 word adjectives to describe the Democrats in staccato posts just to take the pressure off the obvious stupidity of the GOP/Tea-Party.

Obama's lies over and over again in speech after speech about "shovel-ready' projects that he now admits never exsisted and Pelosi, Reid, and other high-profile democrats giving their friends and family members special deals through the democrat cookie jar, otherwise known as Obama's Spendulous Maximus bill he pushed into law.

We Americans continue finding out how different democrats took trips - ala Barney Frank - on jets to trips paid for by businessmen who later received hundreds of millions of dollars from the Obama's "stimulus" plan. Out and out fraud and we, the taxpaying people, are picking up the tab for these political robbers, cheats and liars, with money taken out of the hands of our children and grandchildren.

Nov. 2nd will not be kind to democrats.

"How do you explain that 40 percent of the Tea Party members are democrats and independents?"

I don't. I disbelieve. It might be 2% Dems and 38% too dimwitted to register or participate in caucuses or party activities.

Romeo, here is my election prediction. The very minute that the Tea Party gets a candidate elected, that person will be "part of the establishment" and then the Tea Party will have made itself accountable and therefore vulnerable. Your nattering about "We Americans... anger... anger.. taxpayer.... throw the bums out." will turn to bewilderment as you watch these newly elected morons fail in anything they try to do, and boast about it. It is what Palin did. If they don't quit, they will do better than she did, but that is a pretty low bar, isn't it?

There are websites now that will generate speeches that O'Donnell and Palin COULD give, and they are hilarious. You put in some key words and it does all the logic twisting and posturing automatically. The scary part about it, of course, is that the product is indistinguishable from actual quotes. Anyway, the point is that you could replace Tea Party candidates with CGI scripts and nobody would know, except the scripts would not wear nazi uniforms. Is THAT progress? Well, it is if you are the Tea Party of the GOP.

I really really really want to see how O'Don/Coons shakes out. Either way it goes, the reaction of non-Democrats will be priceless. The TP or the GOP will be gutted, but I am just not sure which, and the suspense is killing me. I kind of hope she wins. That Senate seat is not nearly worth as much as watching the GOP implode and seeing the TP get even further out on the limb.

Only statement I can contribute here and to you is that as long as US voters are not sucked into this lunatic Tea Party and Palin, US is still in good balance ideologically. No brainer extreme right-wing Tea Party and Palin have been insulting me, and I do not want them to win.

I just want to add that some Americans are so uneducated when it comes to a critical thinking skill. They are so vulunerable in time of election.

So what political compaign manager wants to do? Focus on those so called independent voters to shift their votes to Right OR to Left. Uneducated voters often go for a candidate who can successfully deliver a simple message; "If fits, it ships" without telling them the consequence and truth. I do not go for TP's idea eliminating FED, UN, privatizing SSI and Medicare..........What a nightmare if they go to Washington.

sf2k - Really now? "Socialist" policies? Do you even know what you're talking about? It is to laugh

Based on your post, I'd have to say, its rather obvious you don't.

smithinjapan - The accusations of intolerance and racism towards the tea-party movement members is based on their intolerance and racism, bottom line. This is so clearly the case that even the GOP and other TEA-PARTY members are backing away from them.

Anyone else notice, the lack of logic and reasoning skills inherent in this post? smith is actually a pretty smart guy, so reading this kind of nonsense is really sad. Posters such as this, are demonstrating one of 2 things. Either they are outting their own intolerance and racism, or they are making a strong case for them being kool-aid drinking partisan hacks, who lose their ability to reason when it comes to politics. Since I really don't believe smith is a racist, it strongly suggests the latter.

klein2 - Anyway, the point is that you could replace Tea Party candidates with CGI scripts and nobody would know, except the scripts would not wear nazi uniforms. Is THAT progress? Well, it is if you are the Tea Party of the GOP.

And yet its Obama and the Dems desire to push towards greater government control, that goes along with nazi policies. The Nazis who couldn't come to power without centralized government control, that Dems are so desperate to force onto an unwilling America. The Tea Parties call for limited government, is the complete antithesis to the Nazi ideal, that its almost moronic to suggest this kind of parallel.

I just want to add that some Americans are so uneducated when it comes to a critical thinking skill. They are so vulunerable in time of election.

The very reason so many Dems keep managing to get themselves re-elected, despite everything they do. Charley Rangel is a very good example of this, though he is by far not the only one.

Not much point arguing about the Tea Party. After November it will have served its obvious purpose and will just fade away.

Not if the Republicans whom the 'Tea Party' backed reneged, as Obama reneged, on the promises made while campaigning.

Furthermore, the name of the movement will change, for the simple reason that this type of voter participation (unique, for now, to America) is not going to go away on its own - - though you can be sure there are people who will try to crush it. Soros, as of last week, seems for now to have given up: "I Can’t Stop a Republican Avalanche."

Ummm... no. The accusations of intolerance and racism towards the tea-party movement members is based on their intolerance and racism, bottom line.

This is getting pretty old. If anyone would do a search, you would see more Black and other minority candidates that are running that have affiliated themselves with the Tea Party.

Also, recently a student at UCLA did a study of signs at a Tea Party rally, photographing the protest signs. Out of all of the signs, only about 5% had a derogatory saying about the president, the rest were about taxation and anti big government. There were no "KKK" or other types of signs.

So, if it is fine for the "purple shirted" thugs of the SEIU to have rallies and organize and make their claims why is it that the Tea Party can't? I thought the whole purpose of the liberal movement was that people should be able to express themselves freely when they oppose the government, and make demands of the government by electing persons whom they feel best represent the people.

  • 0

    GJDailleult

Not if the Republicans whom the 'Tea Party' backed reneged, as Obama reneged, on the promises made while campaigning.

Of course they will. As will any "Tea Party" candidates who manages to win. They all know the game, and anybody who goes rogue will be on a very short leash anyways.

The whole purpose of American politics is to ensure nothing ever gets changed or fixed. Just show business and the Tea Party is just part of the show.

  • 0

    TimRussert

Notice that not one single Democrat on the campaign trail is trumpeting what Obama has done. Many try to tell constituents that they opposed him and Pelosi and are in fact just like the folks who come to them tea party rallies.

That only applies if you are the right type of people. If you are a conservative, then naturally, the libs feel that free speech shouldn't apply to you. This is because they find what you say offensive, and feel that offensive speech, unless its by liberals, shouldn't be allowed.
