Following the US and Obama lead would be to do far too little much too late and then boast about all the great achievements.

Much better to follow Germany's lead, or that of progressive cities and towns.

Now that China has put America in second place among the world's biggest polluters, and Australia has put America in second place among the world's biggest polluters per capita, now, finally, America is clean enough to be an example!

What a complete joke!

The United States decided not to join 73 countries in supporting a price on carbon, which Congress has indicated it would reject.

And minutes after Obama said “nobody gets a pass,” Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli insisted the world treat developing nations, including China, differently than developed nations, allowing them to release more heat-trapping pollution.

Why is Obama pressing world leaders to follow the United States lead on this issue when Obama can't get the U.S. Congress to cooperate with his plan?

Because he is a terrible leader! Certainly no resume to ever suggest he ever was either.

What, I have to drive a truck?

Exactly! He only needs to take two steps to have the GOP follow him like the Pied Piper: 1) Be Republican; and 2) Not be black.

Obama bent over backwards to incorporate GOP ideas into the ACA (and thwart Democratic ideas anathema to the GOP, which is why we have no single payer system), and he the thanks he achieved for his efforts was a total of ZERO GOP Senate votes. And this was for an idea originating from a GOP think tank, already instituted by a GOP governor!

Similarly, "cap and trade" originated in a GOP think tank and was originally adopted by Reagan to sunset leaded gasoline. GHW Bush first proposed the use of a cap and trade system to cut by half sulfur dioxide emissions from coal-fired power plants and consequent acid rain. McCain in 2003 introduced the "Climate Stewardship Act," which would have used a similar cap and trade approach to reduce carbon pollution linked to global warming. McCain said in a floor speechin 2007 to introduce a bill co-sponsored by then-senator Obama, "The enormous economic costs of damage caused by air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions to the environment and human health are not factored into the price of power produced by fossil-fueled technologies. Yet, it’s a cost that we all bear, too often in terms of ill-health and diminished quality of life."Both McCain and Obama had cap and trade programs in their presidential platforms.

Once Obama became president, though, the Republican Speaker of the House threw aside 30 years of GOP agreement with the Democrats, saying, "A full-blown fleecing of the middle class, it would raise electricity prices, increase gasoline prices, and ship American jobs to countries like China and India."

So, sure, all Obama needs to do is lead by not being anything that he is.

Oh, really? I think you need to reevaluate that statement again.

Allan West, Condoleezza Rice, Ben Carson, Kevin Jackson, Colin Powell, J.C. Watts, John D. Anthony, Herman Cain, Garry Cobb and on and on....in fact, too many others to mention.

All Black, all Republican, try again, please.

Why would the Republicans vote on something that they know and has been proven not to work? That would be political suicidal. In fact, had they put their signature on that bill, they might have never been able to get close to retaking the Senate. A blessing in disguise.

Compared to what Obama has done in the last 6 years, it's nothing really to compare.

So, sure, all Obama needs to do is lead by not being anything that he is.

No, he can lead by being a president and NOT THE WORST partisan president EVER in US history. He's got two more years where he can still make a difference and do something good. But somehow I believe that is just all pie in the sky with this guy.

Americans still buy and drive huge personal vehicles for no good reason or need them. I can put my four door toyota hatchback inside a full sized suv and still have room for a month's worth of grocery bags. America should lead by example and not by excess.

I have a question, who are you to say Americans have No good reason or the need to have them? Sure many of us do. Many Americans have farms, livestock, construction businesses and a whole list of other things they definitely need a big vehicle to use. I would never buy a death trap, even in Japan, I drive a SUV. If Europe and Japan want to drive little tiny cars, that's ok, but I don't think anyone has the right to judge us on what we need or don't need. It all comes down to personal preference.

It seems lately the Global Warming labeled events have been proven to be attributed to something else. Just like the Ice Age 30 years ago.

No proof yet to me. Though I prefer to lean on conservation simply because we are so very wasteful us humans.
