The congress could push a tax bill through that would allow the tax cuts against those making less than $250K to be extended, but if the republicans don't get the tax cuts against those making over $250K also extended, they will not work with the democrats.
So then we'll just see them all expire. So be it. <:-)

How could voters be angry, and how could Democrats be hurt in elections?
"those making over $250K"
That's most small businesses.

Obama phones in from a different planet.

The U.S. jobless rate is now 9.6 percent even though Obama's Spendulous Maximus was touted to keep that figure below 8 percent.
The great Obama recovery strategy: billions spent, nothing gained.
The passing of the Barack Hussein Obama Memorial Health Care Scam by the democrats when 67 percent of the American people were against it sort of put the last nail in the coffin.
I can see November from my front porch, and it looks none too good for the party of endless entitlements.

Only if the owner takes $250K out of the business to pay himself/herself.
Most small businesses do not do that.

Electing Republicans in 2000, 2002, and 2004 paved the way for President Obama.
Electing them again in 2010 might well pave the way for real socialism not too far beyond that. The Republicans don't have the slightest clue how to get the national economy going again.

From the LA Times, more to anger voters:
" Privacy laws prevent release of individual tax delinquents' names. But we do know that as of the end of 2009, 41 people inside Obama's very own White House owe the government they're allegedly running a total of $831,055 in back taxes. "

From Yahoo, more to anger voters:
"DETROIT – New General Motors Co. CEO Daniel Akerson will get the same $9 million pay package as the man he replaced, Ed Whitacre."

Sarge only 3% of the businesses make over $250K. There might have been a lot more at one time, but with banks not giving out loans, they've gone out of business. < :-)

And how high are corporate taxes? All the money you make in business gets taxed multiple times at different rates. You can get a few breaks depending on how you do your taxes, but its still takes a huge chunk out.
Yeah, how bout them Republicans, they opposed the Dems and their health care scam, thats already raising peoples insurance rates. They opposed the Porkulus Maximus bill that cost America a trillion dollars, and did nothing. They opposed the "bank fix" that added burdensome new regulation to every single business in the country. Ya know what, I'd rather have someone without a clue, then someone with one. Hell, as long as Republicans refuse to pass another one Obamas brilliant ideas, the economy can only improve.
Besides yabits. Be honest. If republicans refuse to spend the money, Obama will be forced against his will to balance the budget. That will turn him into an almost decent president, even if it is completely against his will. Heck, he might turn out like Clinton, though a idiotic incompetent Clinton. Oh, he'll still screw up the foreign policy. And you know, he'll do everything he can to keep screwing up domestic policy as well. But as long as he doesn't have his lackeys in power, he'll have his hands more or less tied.

Duh....of course the dems will be hurt by voter anger. The voters are angry at the dems.

Whoa! The money you "make" in business only gets calculated after all the business expenses are taken into consideration. So when my wife and I travel to Europe and I am able to conduct some business there, I am able to deduct the entire trip as a business expense.
It's amazing how many more nice things can be deducted that way. As one fellow business-owner tells me, "I find a way to deduct ALL of my meals and entertainment expenses."
Again, the Republicans don't have the slightest clue of how to get the national economy going again. Pragmatism is needed, and the Republicans today are all as ideologically driven as the old leaders of the Soviet Union were. Angry America should be very careful what it wishes for.

Yup. And they misplace a lot of anger. They will be angry at anyone, but one of their own last.
If Republicans get their way or get back in, I suggest we all start teaching our children Chinese because if we don't tax the rich, they will have a majority stake in the U.S. before too long.
The Republicans want the classic keep the cake in its box untouched but eat it too. Or do they? I think not. I think they are just angling for elections and not being honest, as usual. One would think everything was fine and we were not even at war the way they act. They will sink us, but be happy so long as they get to steer the ship. That is modern Republicans for you.

Beautifully said! They only thing they seem to know to run is an opposition to everything -- except when they take over.
They squandered that surplus like drunken sailors -- and that should never be forgotten.

Whatever... so the Republicans will make some inroads in November; watch how quickly they change their tune when the Dems do what they did and filibuster, with the former asking for cooperation. Won't happen, and the Dems will get it all back the next time. Does anyone ever doubt when people say US politics have become a stagnant failure? The only country worse is Japan, and that's only because the two main parties are exactly the same; the opposition members were yesterday's supporters, and tomorrow's.

Then the Republicans will flipflop yet again and repeat their mantra of 2001 when the then-new Republican president took office: "Obstructionists!"
And yet, sufficient numbers of Democrats did work with the Republicans to reach compromises and pass legislation. The ideologically-driven Republicans, by contrast, tend to kill off any of their own who dare compromise with Democrats.

I'm still dubious that the Republican will do so well in November but even then if it happens, what next? With a majority or at least an even-ish split in congress suddenly there's pressure on them to submit their own solutions and ideas which up to now they have had roughly zero worth talking about.
A Republican 'victory' in 2010 will virtually guarantee a second term for Obama in 2012.

If Obama has Canadians worried I would have to say he is a failure:
Pfffft.
Whatever.

And as the epitome of drunken sailors, the Dems, who have blown through more money in less then 2 years, then Bush did in 8... You have something to say? What, you think they'll be worse then Obama? Is that even possible? Hell, if they spend like they did under bush, it will be a relief from Obamas insane spending spree.
Yes, this is terrible isn't it. I mean, you have the MSM which essentially are all lapdogs for this administration, and then you have Fox. The only ones who actually go out and do real reporting. Bitterly divided? Fox is the only ones doing what the others should be doing. That is investigating, keeping an eye on the government. Being the 4th rail of American politics. The country needs a strong media, to stand watch on government, to ensure it doesn't get too out of control. When that does not happen, you get things like Nixon. It was that same media, though that helped bring things back into line. Unfortunately, these days, if Obama pulled a Nixon, the only ones who would report on it, would be Fox. The others would simply go along with it, or make excuses for him.
I also have my doubts. Looking at predictions, Republicans could pick up as few as 30 seats, and as many as 60 or more. They need 39 in the house, and while thats certainly possible, its far from certain. Even more dubious is the Senate. Its possible they could reach the majority needed for control, but 10 seats is a big, big hurdle. Harry Reid, who is outspending Sharron Angle in Nevada 10:1, is making a race of it. Washington and California are both liberal bastions, despite strong Republican candidates. In Florida, Crist certainly isn't out yet. West Virginia, the govonor is really popular, so will be tough to beat. Feingold, in a liberal state, is a tough competitor, despite his horrible votes. No, Republican control is far from certain. Republicans will pick up a lot of seats, but control might be too much to reach for.

LOL!! As a business owner, I know the difference between a capital expense and an investment. It's clear that conservatives like yourself do not.
What people like yourself whine and complain about is the $2 trillion elevator to get the country out of the the $1 trillion hole that the Republicans put the country in. (Amounts given are relative and not meant to be taken literally, so long as the point is made.)
Your hatred of President Obama has blinded you to some of the solid accomplishments of his administration. (For example, his Race To the Top initiatives in education, which has put him at odds with teachers' unions across the country -- a much needed step.)
All you know how to do is whine.

The thing he failed to realize, is that an elevator shaft goes both up and down. In pulling the switch for the 2 trillion dollars he decided to blow through, he pushed the down button. All you are doing, is desperately attempting to justify his incompetence and stupidity. It wasn't just Republicans saying not to do it, but many, many people. People who are understandably, and justifiably outraged at the most insane spending spree in history. Obama, makes a drunken sailor seem like a miser.
Lets see, what has Obama accomplished. He has bankrupted the country, by borrowing trillions of dollars, and then essentially just wasting it. He has passed a massive health care scam, that is already increasing everyones insurance rates. (Something he claimed would not happen.) That is already costing the US a large amount of money, another thing he lied about, claiming wouldn't happen. He passed a bill designed to add burdensome additional regulations to every business in America. He is poised to allow the biggest tax increase in American history...
Your claim that he has actually done some good is unsupportable. Its akin to saying, he patted little Susie on the head, after killing her dog. Well, guess that makes everything ok then doesn't it.
