Great stuff. Americans, especially black Americans, can't get a better role model than this Dad-in-Chief.

I was reading an article last week about how a lot of people - mainly, unfortunately Republicans - were sandbagging Obama for taking Michelle out on a date in Washington a couple of weekends ago.

The message many of his detractors were not saying was that the C-in-C was showing them up. Here's a guy who - despite being the most powerful man on the planet - still has the time **and **the inclination to take his wife out for a dinner date and not just order in pizza, sit in front of the tv and expect his wife to be somehow impressed.

Big kudos to the President.

Sushisake: What are you talking about?? The Republicans have Ensign -- a guy who said he had a dead-beat dad and wanted to be better than he was, you know? Oh wait...

Anyway, it seems like Obama's a good dad. Not perfect, of course, and I hope he doesn't smoke around the kids, but he's obviously an excellent role model and a caring parent. His daughters aren't out boozing it and getting caught for drugs, either.

Heck, my father never made me shut off the TV, he liked the same programs I liked - Captain Kangaroo, Gilligan's Island, Sylvester & Tweety, I Dream of Jeannie, Star Trek, Lost in Space...

sarge: I see your cut-n-paste skills are as always. Try reading the whole article instead of trying to make it sound like his father was being responsible.

"The visit took a sour turn when Obama went to watch “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and his father made him shut off the TV, saying he watched too much."

It's not like he was planted in front of the TV and his dad had had enough.

"He started another family here, then left his second wife and 2-year-old Barack Jr to return to Africa with another woman."

That would be a little bit better thing to comment on from the article when talking about how Obama doesn't want to be like his dad.

Obama is starting to worry me: Everything you need to know is on that TV -and America must be "dumbed down." -This is the principal of "progressive education" and also supports the break-up of family/community. -Without it the "New World Order" is in trouble.

Obama is almost becoming anti-socialist/communist !! =Close the FEMA camps, release the "criminals" and bring back our textbooks of pre-1930-1940. We may be able to educate a few engineers (people that actually think)with a social program like this.

=this is an astounding 180Deg from the current social/political position.

Yeah, he hasnt impressed me a whole lot and the honeymoon will soon be over. For now however, honest messages like this need to be spoken so well done to him. So many kids all over the world - especially in Western nations are being raised by only one parent. Not always the fault of the father - but boy do we need to do better. Make better choices people and take care of your kids!

Obama is a minority within a minority; a half-black father who had his children by his wife. But he runs the risk of being insensitive to the men who do not marry their children's mothers and do not live with their children. You know, like John Edwards, Jesse Jackson and Strom Thurmond.

His finger-wagging is most pointed when addressing other black men, reflecting years of worry about the fabric of black families and single mothers, but it applies to everyone.

mealy worded but i guess its a start. I'd like to see obama do more in this area as it is the root cause of what troubles the black community. Not everybody can grow up with a rich white grandmother.

More lies from Obama. He'll say anything, whatever it takes to get him to the next interview.

Progressives like him and Hillary (It Takes a Village...) want the State, the teacher, the social worker, the neighborhood "Americorps" leader, if not local Democrat organizations and approved media figures, to determine your child's future.

Look what the bogus "war on Poverty" and the deeply cynical "Great Society" programs did to the urban black family in America.

Who benefitted? Democrats.
