    Enough said.

“We must ensure that the failures of the past are never repeated.”

    Very true.

Governor Jindal of Louisiana is doing the best on that count. The last paragraph says it all.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal announced Friday that he will decline stimulus money specifically targeted at expanding state unemployment insurance coverage, becoming the first state executive to officially refuse any part of the federal government’s payout to states.

In a statement, Jindal, who is slated to give the Republican response to President Barack Obama’s message to Congress on Tuesday, expressed concern that expanding unemployment insurance coverage would lead to increased unemployment insurance taxes later on.

“The federal money in this bill will run out in less than three years for this benefit and our businesses would then be stuck paying the bill,” Jindal said. “We must be careful and thoughtful as we examine all the strings attached to the funding in this package. **We cannot grow government in an unsustainable way.” **

I have to say, I really LIKE this guy.

sailwind: Not sure if you noticed, but the 'mistakes must not be repeated' was in reference to bush's complete failure in dealing with Katrina effectively. I suppose you can twist the words to mean that Obama is somehow siding with Jindal, but clearly that is not the case.

"Governor Jindal of Louisiana is doing the best on that count. The last paragraph says it all. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal announced Friday that he will decline stimulus money specifically targeted at expanding state unemployment insurance coverage..."

So, do tell us what part of the stimuls money he WON'T reject. I wonder... hahaha.

The money that doesn't come with strings and forces his successor to have to raise taxes on his constituents when Uncle Sugar cuts off the cash in three years.

You know actually looking out for the people before they get stuck with bill..........It's called fiscal responsibility.

Yeah, no money given to people who instead of putting it back into their homes or feeding their families were buying beer, cigs, porn mags and DVDs, computers, cars, car parts, etc.. Oh, and it wasn't just a few.

I won't make the mistake again of donating money!

sailwind: "The money that doesn't come with strings..."

In other words, the money the man can use however he wants, including lining his own pockets? Damn those 'strings' that actually make people fiscally responsible instead of simply throwing money and saying 'do as you please'. Obama attaching strings, unlike his predecessor with the banks, is the kind of thing that is needed.

Oh no! Word is in that all the paranoid nuts crying about Obama bailing out people who shouldn't have bought houses and can't pay mortgages are wrong! Too much listening to Santelli, I guess. Despite Gibbs being one of the most boring speakers I've ever seen, he rips into Santelli and the man's lies pretty well.

Damn... more strings attached and more need to be responsible... FISCALLY! Damn... what's sailwind going to do when he realized everything he says he wants is actually what Obama is doing? and the fact that fiscal responsibility and Jindal demanding the money with no strings attached are quite contrary?

He turn downed Obama's cash......You some sort of point here?

Ah, well... if he refused ALL the cash then that's a different story. I doubt the people will be too happy that they won't be helped out due to Republican pride, but hey. We'll see if he actually follows through on not accepting any money or not.

SuperLib: Ah well, at least I came on here and talked about the thread a little -- you don't seem to be talking about anything at all, save for pretty old me.
