"During the fall campaign, Obama relentlessly criticized his Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain, for declaring, "The fundamentals of our economy are strong"
President Obama certainly sounds like a hypocrite, doesn't he?

Obama talked down the economy to get elected. He talked it down some more to scare Americans into passing his huge porkulous spending bills and socialist agenda. Now he is talking up the economy to get re-elected. Whether or not people have a job or the nation goes bankrupt is beside the point.

Obama talked down the economy to get elected" Yes he did, but that's politics. Repubs had terrorism, the dems have economy and global warming to scare us.
He talked it down some more to scare Americans into passing his huge porkulous spending bills and socialist agenda." No, that is more of Nancy Pelosi's fault.
Now he is talking up the economy to get re-elected" No, he was criticized for being too negative. Now he is being criticized for being too positive.

No not really. Most people agreed with him six months ago. Now that the bottom has fallen out there is some expectation that the real economy will emerge and start rebuilding.
Sarge are you a Limbaugh who hopes the economy will fail completely just so you can get your ideological brownie points?

"Sarge are you a Limbaugh who hopes the economy will fail..."
Neither Limbaugh nor myself hope the economy will fail. We hope President Obama's plans to socialize the country fail.

Sarge, while I think America will probably move away from the right (no surprise in that since the people voted for that), I doubt that the country will become another Europe or - dare I say it - a Canada. This hyperventilation over "socialism" is a but much.
Anyway, if socialism is so bad, then I suggest that the right stop screwing up so badly as to make the left the only alternative. Being in power is not just about politicking, it is also about governing. Simple really, but the GOP have yet to figure that out.

Clearly more than a few on here still have no idea what Socialism means/is and that Obama is steering you away from being on the brink of it. They hear some moron on the radio talking about how the sky is falling and choose to simply listen to him rather than see the truth, and they choose to be unpatriotic and desire the failure of their Commander in Chief.
Really what they should be doing is getting down on their knees and thanking Obama for putting in place the means to save them. But I have no doubt that once Obama's policies start paying off the Republicans on here will come on and start shrieking about how it was NOT Obama who put an end to the recession, etc. etc.

They don't know what they believe or what to do.
Moderates and Democrat Party faithful are begininng to wonder
New York Daily News: "More than a bad day: Worries grow that Barack Obama and Co. have a competence problem"

Obama caters to the gullible and the ignorant.
He's been talking down the economy for two years, continued talking down the economy through the passages of the porkulus package and the earmark laden omnibus. now that the Democrats have paid off their political supporters we are to believe this boldface liar that all is well in obamaland. the only ones believing that are the ones that believe anything as long as it involves a free handout.
nice try obama. your little propagandizing works well on the uneducated and closet commies but falls short, way short on those of us paying attention. How about instead of lying to the American people you try rolling up the sleeves and fixing what is really hurting the economic health of the United States, the demise of the US banking system.

He got his trillions of play money. Now that he got it, suddenly everything is fine.
Quite entertaining to follow this bizarre spectacle. Will the media pundits ever wake up to this scam?

Obama caters to the gullible and the ignorant." they all do. Repubs are the same.
Clearly more than a few on here still have no idea what Socialism means" well, what does it mean? My dad called himself a socialist, but maybe he was wrong. Tell us. What a lot of people don't understand/know are things like the military - its a dictatorship and a very communist society. Many small towns are very socialistic.
But, if you know better than I, please educated us.

"Obama caters to the gullible and the ignorant."
Says a guy who STILL thinks bush was a good leader!
skip: "What a lot of people don't understand/know are things like the military - its a dictatorship and a very communist society. Many small towns are very socialistic."
This doesn't even make a lot of sense, my friend. If you want to know about Socialism and Communism, go look it up. I can tell you that screaming and crying about uninsured people having access to health care, and students who go to schools that get less funding having their education improved is not 'Socialism' and the country is not falling apart if the health plan changes or taxes on the rich are increased. The way 'Socialism' is being thrown around by people on this board is the same way McCain and Palin ("I can see Russia from my house!" "Africa is a country!") tried to tie the term into meaning something Obama stands for. In other words, it worked on the brainless who would lap up sewage if Republicans told them to. Do you honestly, skip, think the US is the same or close to having a government like in Cuba or Venezuela? (not that either succeeded in being Socialist).
And please, do tell me how 'many small towns are very socialistic'. Have you fallen for the GOP rhetoric that if you care about your neighbour you're a Socialist/Fascist/Communist? Puuuleeease!

So the economy hasn't tanked and people still have their jobs and homes? Son, I think you are the one who is gullible and ignorant. Obama is not perfect, nor is he all powerful. His talking down the economy did not cause it to crash. If this were true then the US economy would not be worth a plug nickel.

Yeah, he should've been telling us to buy AIG.

buddha4brains - I agree.
smithinjapan - I agree.
I don't have to write anything myself, just reread these correct posts.
The republicans here are just repeating the same as Limbaugh and some of the other republicans politicians who want Obama to fail. They would accept the failure of the country to see Obama to fail. They don't want Obama to succeed after george bush was such a failure and want the country to even go deeper into a financial demise so they will have the happiness to say, "SEE I TOLD YOU."
But when the country succeeds and it's Obama's actions that pulled us out of this situation, they'll be crying it wasn't Obama's efforts it was just cycle. Just wait and listen. < :-)
