I just hope Obama does not try to make it about him and his presidency.

May the troops soon come home, the NYC towers/memorial be built, borders and immigration policies kept vigilant, and prosperity abound in a God-fearing, peace-loving nation.
That's my 9-11 10th anniversary prayer.

@Lieberman2012 -- you're proactively picking nits and it makes you look petty. @pamelot -- you've got my vote, 'nuff said.

Right. Our last president would NEVER have used that tragedy, or the ones he unleashed in Iraq and Afghanistan, for his own aggrandizement. Mission accomplished!

"Right. Our last president would NEVER have used that tragedy"
It's nearly as funny as watching that multividual, who has actually posted on JT for many years, currently try and pass itself off as a democrat - let alone remember how the repubs shamelessly used the events of 9/11 for political gain. Even one of W's re-election ads had to be pulled if I remember rightly when sane Americans complained about the audacity.

My gratitude to President Obama for his kind words in advance. And my extreme gratitude to him for taking out Osama Bin Laden on his watch.
I will do what I have done every year since the attack and has become sort of a tradition in my family. I will go to the local fire dept here in my Japanese neighborhood with my wife and give my thanks to the men there. Though they may never be tasked with what their American firefighting brothers in New York had to do that fateful day, they stand ready to go into harms way to protect the innocent should the bell ring. It is my small way to show my gratitude to them (and all firefighters worldwide) and to honor those firefighters in New York who are no longer with us.

Well said, Sailwind.
Fire-fighters world over do the same dangerous and largely thankless job. They're the only people that come around my workplace selling calenders every year that ever get a hand-out.

Good words, Sailwind - and a very good idea!

The first responders and firemen are not allowed to attend this 10th anniversary ceremony. They will be given a separate ceremony at a later date. What an insult.

Apparently, that is true. Mainly because of logistical and space problems, the NYPD and fire departments could not be invited to take part -- per Mayor Bloomberg's office. However, I'm sure the families of the police, firemen and first responders who lost their lives on that day will, in fact, be there.

I remember a terrible day of 9/11 where I was, what I was doing, and whom I was with to watch the whole thing.
When the 2nd jet hit the 2nd Trade Center, I realized we were deliberately attacked and we were in war. I will never forget that day. I would like to pay my special respect and appreciation to all these heros, victims and their families. I realize I cannot unlive that day.......
