Well, I've been expecting it of course, but its just sad knowing that the lawmakers who are voting yes, can't even be bothered to read the thing. Only 1 lawmaker claims to have read the whole thing. He is a Republican, he voted no. Maybe that should say something to people.
Having the democrats social spending porkulus bill pass is truly a sad day for America.

While precisely zero Republicans supported the bill, Democrats look forward to saving or creating 3.5 million jobs.

Exporting jobs to Europe and Mexico doesn't count as creating jobs. Nor does creating projects designed solely to employ illegals. That number is a fantasy at best.

That Republicans have poor reading comprehension? That Republicans can't connect the dots? That Republicans can mismanage economies and wars and still expect to maintain their credibility?

Bill passed the House. Zero Republican support.

Obama, of course, completely and casually reneged on his cynical, calculated "pledge" to assure the American public there would be complete transparency and "every American" could go online to view the contents.
His hero Alinsky would be proud.
Dems own this one lock, stock, and barrel.

VOR - "The fleecing of America continues."
And VOR's credibility goes one big step further down the toilet. ;-)

Precious few American "liberals" here in support of this monstrosity. Was it the way Obama lied? Is it embarrassment at being duped, all the slogans - "transparency", "bipartisanship", "hope", "change" that they fell for? Or maybe they are busy planning how they gonna spend that whopping 13$/week "stimulus" that is supposed to kick in around June, to be quickly reduced to 8$/week ! by next January.

Sushi, some of these anti-Obama posters are starting to show early symptoms of the audacity of hope.
They hope Obama will fail. They hope the country will descend farther down the tubes that their own party sent it.
People should recall that, back in 1993, then-President Clinton and the then-Democratic Congress passed the Federal Deficit Reduction Act without a single Republican vote. "This bill is a disaster! The tax increases will send the nation's economy back into recession and the stock market into the tank," Republicans cried. We all know that the economy and stock market did no such thing, and the budget was balanced before the decade was out.
What did the Republicans do as soon as they got control of the White House and Congress? All the thriftiness of the Clinton years was squandered away as tax cuts. The national moral hazard of putting Republicans in office is that they know they can screw up the economy and budget to make their friends in the top 10% richer, and the Democrats will be there volunteering for the clean-up crew.

You tells em, yabits. It's gonna be like when Clinton was president!
Or maybe not. It appears that the hard Left has added to the porkulus certain provisions that even some Dems worry are going to undo Clinton's laudable welfare reform of 1996.
Kaus, at Slate, 10 February:
"...my colleague Bob Wright routinely ridiculed me as paranoid for worrying that if Democrats got back in power they would unravel welfare reform. Even I thought I was paranoid. If only for political purposes, I figured, Dems would have to wait a few months or years before sabotaging Bill Clinton's major domestic achievement. It took them two weeks. "

Never let a good crisis go to waste.
Clinton said the era of big government was over. George W. Bush and the Republicans proved that it wasn't. Now stand by and reap the whirlwind.

If you supported Federal Deficit Reduction legislation and support the largest deficit spending increase in the nation's history your thinking (and loyalties) are more out of whack than I originally suspected.
The fleecing of America continues. This is change?

Republicans did overspend during their time in charge. Bush said that only a national emergency would cause him to deficit spend. Well, 9/11 and two wars resulted in deficit spending. The problem was that even during what was termed an "emergency" there were no domestic reductions in spending - especially over the last two years with Dems in control of Congress.
Now that the hard left of the Democrat Party has complete control over government, you haven't seen real deficit spending like we are going to be experiencing now. It took less than 3 weeks to add at least 1.5 trillion to the annual deficit (including the TARP II and interest). What is terrifying is that what Obama is doing appears to be a repeat of he Carter administration. The most likely result of all of this debt will be stagflation. We have a huge amount of debt and now a huge annual deficit. Add to that the Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare obligations of 5$53 trillion. All of this spending is pure madness - and there are actually Democrats complaining that we are not spending enough! This is pure insanity...

Anybody who supported this porkulus package ought to heed the words of the very fat and overstuffed face of the grandaddy of the democratic party;
Senator Edward Kennedy was reported as saying to younger members of his family, “I'm glad I'm not going to be around when you guys are my age.” When they asked him why, he replied, “Because when you guys are my age, the whole thing is going to fall apart.”
There can be little doubt that Senator Kennedy had the country’s dire fiscal condition in mind when uttering those haunting words. Although a proponent of big spending all his life, Kennedy seems to realize that sooner or later the hour of reckoning must come.
The fleecing of America continues. This is change?

So Ted Kennedy is saying in 20 or 30 years this stimulus plan is going to fall apart. I'm good with waiting 20 or 30 years to see it fall apart. < :-)

LOL!! 20 ragtag hijackers living in caves caused the mighty United States to change its entire outlook and policy towards the world. National emergency? In the minds of the feeble-minded perhaps. But that's precisely how someone as incompetent as 43 was could get into the White House in the first place.
It was a massive hole that the Bushites dug. Far exceeding the pit at Ground Zero. Obama's plan is merely the first step towards getting the US out of that massive hole.

VOR
not quite my simple-minded friend. Ted Kennedy said this about 10 years ago and was talking about government overspending in general, without regard to political party. The Democrats 800 billion spending package is just more of the same overspending that previous congresses and presidents have gotten away with in the past. The fleecing of America continues. Nothings changed.

It delivered as advertised.
Much better than Bush's "strong dollar policy" didn't it?
0

So you were taking Ted Kennedy's quote out of context and trying to equate his statement to this stimulus plan. Real smooth. Try to stay with today's news. < :-)

VOR
The problem is Obama and the D'rats got the shovel started digging deeper. Much deeper. Blaming Bush for ruining the economy because of debt and supporting Obama for creating more debt can only make sense to the feeble minded.

VOR
no daydream i did no such thing. you simply jumped to the wrong conclusion...again.
0
yabits
The difference between Bush and Obama is that Bush only dug a hole. Obama knows how to build a foundation for something far greater out of it.
0
VOR
yabits, this irresponsible legislation was advertised as stimulus and there doesn't appear to be any stimulus. How can you claim it was delivered as advertised?
0
VOR
Okay so the debt accumulated by the Federal government during Bush's term is a hole and the debt accumulated by the Federal government during Obama's term is a foundation. Your logic is stupefying.
0
adaydream
No I didn't jump to conclusions again. You misrepresented the statement.
It isn't even signed by Obama, yet. How can you say it won't help the economy? < :-)

VOR
whatever daydream, i don't have time for childish arguments
are you not the least bit interested in what the CBO and professional economist are predicting. are you not familiar with similiar attempts by the Japanese a few years back and the dismal results. Are you not aware how unfocused this spending package is and the amount of pork contained in it. Are you oblivious to your own contradiction of criticizing overspending by the previous Republican administration and your support for overspending by the current Democratic administration? You must be joking.

I'm as interested in your beliefs about the economy as most republicans were interested in my beliefs that george bush was a bold faced liar and taking us into a hoaxed up war.
VOR, I do enjoy the chuckles your posts give me though.
A combinations of make believes and mis-contexted posts. < :-)

The Deficit Reduction Act of 1993 claimed to deliver a balanced budget by the end of the decade. Democrats deliver on their promises.
