Can't help not being so impressed by this. A multi-billlion war been going on for so long, like 8 years and 30 dead makes the news. And how many of those were "terrroists". Think WW1 and 115,000 dead in a day.
The war in Afghanistan is like mice nibbling at cheese. Eventually the USA and the UK will leaqve with nice words and tribal rule will once again prevail in Afghanistan as it always has. They will have "democratic" elections and the same war lords will always remain.
What a waste. If there is a god out there that supports this kind of suicide attack and the thinking that goes with it, then that god is an evil one. But reality is that we human beings make up our own monster dieties and use them to rationalize a lot of brutality and cruelty. It seems people need to blame someone or something else for the hatred and violence they conduct. Maybe easier than taking personal responsibility for it. And certainly easier to lure and trick the clueless into doing something as sad as suicide in the name of some imaginary god. Tragic all around.
This keeping score so reminds me of Viet Nam. Killing Taliban may be a good defense but it is not going to stop the violence. There is going to have to be a fundimental shift in attitudes before people stop blowing themselves up.
